

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Minerva "Minnie" Cantu, who entered into rest on May 16, 2026, at the age of 93. Born on October 19, 1932, Minnie lived a life of public service as a nurse for 46 years. Starting her career as a Candy Striper at the age of 16, then entering nursing school, Minnie provided comfort, advocacy, and care to countless individuals, and leaving a lasting positive impact on the communities she served in Texas and Colorado. A generous and charismatic soul, she found joy in dancing, all sports, celebrating life's joys, a good margarita, and sharing time with those close to her heart.
Despite her health challenges the last few years, she will be remembered for her beautiful smile, her giving spirit, and her enduring love for her family.
Minnie is preceded in death by her parents Pedro and Guadalupe Patino, her husband Rodolfo Cantu, her first husband and father of her children, Edward A. Hernandez, her sister Alice Fuentes, and her brothers George Patino and Hugo Patino.
She is survived by her children: Deborah Navarro (Carlos), Denise Rhinehart (Lynn), Doris Lane (Bond) and Ed Hernandez, II (Cynthia), as well as grandchildren: Matthew H., Matthew L., Andrea, Jordan, Michael, Sheldon; great-grandchildren: Luna, Soleil; her loving nieces and nephew, and numerous extended family and friends.
Visitation will be held at Funeraria Del Angel Trevino Funeral Home, 226 Cupples Road, San Antonio, TX 78237, on June 10, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm, with a Rosary Service at 7:00 pm.
Friends and family are kindly asked to meet directly at Christ the King Catholic Church, 2610 Perez St, San Antonio, TX 78207, on June 11, 2026, at 9:40am for a 10:00 am Mass of the Resurrection, a Processional will follow to Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, TX 78209, for a Committal service at Shelter 3.
