Ok, big guy, you got out of here before I had the chance to even the score on the court. Oh well, probably wouldn't have, anyway, you were too solid of a player for me! Gonna miss you, though, and our carefree afternoons on the court, battling thru each point, arguing calls, win or lose, always shaking hands at the end, looking forward to the next match, and you usually asking, "hey, Tom, how 'bout tomorrow?" So I'll be waiting for your call, in the meantime, rest easy, and thank-you for being part of my life, it meant a-lot to me, I'll miss you, man.

Monte was a wonderful friend. He was such a genuine person who showed a lot of care and used humor to keep our spirits riding high. He served the Lord well by helping life so much.

I met Monte at the Y Tennis league and considered him a 
friend. I like many other's enjoyed playing Tennis with

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I, too, lost my husband last month so I know the pain and sorrow that you are experiencing. I am also the niece of Aunt Vee Rodriguez, who is also your Aunt.

I didn't know Monte Muecke until we were in the same homeroom, 8th and 9th grade at Longfellow Jr. High in San Antonio. We also had many classes together. I remember in 8th grade history class, Spring 1962, he said that the "Underground Railroad" was a railroad built underground..." Wrong answer, but I thought "this is a funny guy I should get to know better." He sat near me in homeroom, so we got to be good friends. I also found out that Monte's dad and my dad both owned their own insurance companies. Later, Monte's dad sponsored our 9th grade Junior High Graduation Party at Green Acres in San Antonio. Monte also met my very first "girl friend" at that nice party. Starting at Jefferson High, Fall 1963..., Monte saw me signing up for "Tennis." Monte said to me, "I thought you were into baseball..." I said "Yes, but I had such a bad year last summer that I've decided to sign up for tennis instead." I think that is where he got the idea for him to also sign up for "Jeff" tennis (instead of "P.E." like I did). Yep, we were both on the tennis team, and good buddies that we decided to play doubles with one another all throughout high school including district tennis championships. I used to have an Express News Sports article dated 5/20/65 which listed "Ricky King and Monte Muecke were defeated by Alamo Heights in the District 16AAAAA tennis championship..." 
Monte told me Fall, 1965, that he wanted me in the Hayne with him, a high school fraternity like the "Jeff" Senate. So I applied and was accepted. I would have never known to apply if it hadn't been for Monte. He's a "great guy," I always thought! We graduated from "Jeff," and went our separate ways. I got my Journalism degree from Texas State in San Marcos while he got, what I thought was a Business degree from Stephen F. Austin in Nacogdoches. I found out yesterday, Sunday, Nov. 23, that he got a different degree. Anyway, I remember seeing him at Jim's Restaurant,(Babcock at 410; it's now a bank) spring of 1973, when I was going to UTSA graduate school in business. I remember he told he told me he was working for Bankers Life Insurance Co. We saw one another at the 1976 10-year Jeff Reunion, and this time I was teaching American History at John Marshall High in S.A. He was still in insurance. Monte and I had a "chance meeting" at Jim's Restaurant (Blanco at 410)in the summer of 1979 when I was now working for Mr. W Fireworks as an Office Manager. I remember that we both said we were doing very well in our current jobs, and we both were driving Cadillacs. We also discovered that both of our cars were fairly new 1979 models... Interesting, I thought. Four years later, Spring 1983, another "chance meeting" at another Jim's Restaurant. "So, what are you doing now," Monte said to me. "I got an accounting degree and now work at IRS in Austin," I replied. I mention all of the different jobs I've had as Monte was a very straight arrow by continuing to work in an insurance agency with now his Dad. Spring, 1985, Monte says to me at Jim's, "So, what are you doing now?" Working for Cableguard Security Systems, I replied. Still in insurance, aren't you Monte? "Yes, as usual." I did not go to Jeff's 1986 Reunion, so I didn't see Monte again until our 1991 Jeff Class Reunion. Yep, I had still a different job with state agency TCEQ in Austin as an accountant. But this one I worked 18 years from 1987, and retired from it in 2005. Monte was still working in insurance, but now had his own insurance agency. He always impressed me that he was always doing very well in his business matters. The final 1996 Jeff Reunion was the last one that I saw Monte (at a class reunion). He was now married again to what was a very classy lady, and Monte said he was very happy with her. Off and on I heard for over 20 years the trials and tribulations of his first ex-wife. "Wow!" is all I can say about that dumb ex-wife. She was a piece of work. We did run into one another again in 2007 and played tennis with one another a couple of times over at Shadow Cliff, where I am still a member and captain of a league 3.5 tennis team. So, I'm very surprised and hurt that my good buddy, Monte Muecke, over the years has just passed away. I was looking forward to seeing him again at our 50th Jeff Class Reunion that would have been in 2016. Monte, thanks for all the good memories that we had. I miss you, good buddy! Richard King

It was an honor and pleasure knowing Monte. He was always the happiest guy in the room! We will always remember his constant smile and ready laugh. He was truly "one of the good guys"! We so enjoyed the time we spent with Monte and Marie. His passing came as such a shock to us and he will be sorely missed. Our hearts go out to Marie and family.

I have know Monte and Marie for many years, and have enjoyed many special times with them. Monte was always taking care of those of us who needed a ride or some advice on cars, etc. He was such a kind happy person, and will be missed by all.

Monte and I played tennis together. He was always a pleasure to play with and against. He was a very competitive player, who worked to constantly improve his skills. When we were assigned the same court, I knew it would be a tough, but fair match. I will miss him.

I am saddened to learn of the decease of Monte. I played tennis with him at the McFarlin Tennis Center when he was at Jefferson. Monte had a good way of dealing with people with an outgoing personality. I always enjoyed seeing him at the tennis courts. My Deepest Sympathies, Bobby Braubach

God bless you and your family Monte. You were a super childhood friend when we went to Longfellow and Jeff together; riding and building scooters and go-carts together in Oak Hills. We had a lot of fun.

Monte and I had a special relationship with Dr.J.H. Mc lean`s volcanic oil. I`m one of his tennis friends and my heart goes out to Marie and all the family.
