
Myra Neale Collier, age 84, died at home peacefully on her birthday, September 8, 2008, following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born September 8, 1924, in the town of Teague, Freestone County, Texas, to the late Raymond and Maggie Butler. She graduated from Teague High School in 1942 and moved to San Antonio. There, on August 2, 1946, she was united in marriage with Elmer Roy Collier; they were happily married until his death in 1991. Elmer and Myra were members of Palm Heights Methodist Church before they transferred to Jefferson United Methodist Church in 1958. Myra was active in the lives of her children through the Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts, and especially enjoyed being Granny for the past 30 years. She resided in San Antonio until 2005 when she moved to Azle. Myra is survived by her son and his wife, John and Heather Collier Gleneden Beach, OR; her daughter, Lois Ingram Belton, TX; her daughter and her husband, Carol and Kurt Haman Azle, TX; seven grandchildren, Samuel Collier, Rebecca and her husband Mark Blomer, Michelle Collier, Joshua Johnson, Jesse Haman, Chris Ingram and Amanda Ingram; her great-grandson, Sean Blomer; her sister, Dorothy Cameron of Teague TX; and her sister-in-law, Jean Collier of Austin, TX. She is further survived by nieces, Linda Welch, Pattie Sue Williams, and Dorothy Ann Austin; other relatives and many friends, including her faithful dog, Chloe.
