

Myra Jean Crawford, age 89, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, in San Antonio, Texas. She was born on March 30, 1935, in Abilene, Texas, to parents, Clarence Moody and Myra Aliene Johnson Moody.
Myra grew up in Abilene, Texas where she shared many happy times with her extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins. While attending McMurry University, she met the love of her life, Wayne, whom she married one week after graduation. Soon after they wed, they moved to Houston, Texas where she began teaching third grade at Memorial Drive Elementary School in the Spring Branch School District while Wayne attended medical school.
Upon completion of Wayne’s residency, they moved to San Antonio, Texas where Myra and Wayne raised their three children and made many lifelong friends. Myra was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Myra and Wayne enjoyed travelling the world and their many ski vacations with family and friends. In addition, Myra had a variety of interests and was an active participant in numerous organizations. She was a devoted member of Alamo Heights Methodist Church, the Assistance League of San Antonio, Garden Club, and the Bexar County Medical Auxiliary. Myra was also known for her love of needlepoint and playing in her two bridge groups. Myra always looked for the positive in all things and she will be deeply missed by everyone who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by, her parents, and son, Mark Wayne Crawford. Myra is survived by her husband, Howard Wayne Crawford; Daughters, Karen Jackson (Richard), and Lisa Tompson (Chris); grandchildren, Kelly Bess (Ethan), Kevin Jackson, Caroline Tompson, Matthew Tompson, and Jack Tompson; and great-grandchildren, Whitney Bess and Sawyer Bess.
The memorial service will be a private ceremony, remembering Myra in the presence of close family and friends. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to The Assistance League of San Antonio.
