

Myrtle Laura (Kuentz) Lieck, age 87, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully into eternal rest with the Lord on December 25, 2012, joining her beloved husband of 66+ years, Raymond Howard Lieck. She was born on August 30, 1925, in San Antonio, Texas to Joe Kuentz and Gertrude Hoffmann Kuentz, who preceded her in death along with numerous brothers and sisters. Myrtle grew up on the far west side and was a life-long resident of Bexar County. She and Raymond were married in 1943 at Ft Sill, Oklahoma, and raised three daughters together. She was a charter member and Past Worthy Matron of Valley-Hi Chapter #1104 of the Order of the Eastern Star and was a member of the Daughters of the Nile Nekodah Temple No. 44. Myrtle along with her husband Raymond were among the founding members of Amazing Grace Lutheran Church. She was also a member of the Sons of Hermann Helotes Lodge #76. She is survived by her children, Carolyn and husband Frank (Gerry) Condel, Cheryl Palmer, and Debra Lieck; grandchildren Joe Lieck; Garrett Condel and wife Amina, along with their children Lauren, Brittany, Gavin, and Jonathan; Laurie Condel and partner Tammy Highsmith and their son Logan Condel. Also surviving are her brother–in-law Ernest Lieck and a host of nieces and nephews, along with many friends, as well as her beloved dachshund, Rudy. The family wishes to thank all the many caregivers and the doctors, nurses, and the entire staff at the Christus VNA Hospice and Palliative Care-San Antonio for their loving care of Myrtle for the past 15 months. Pallbearers: Garrett Condel, Rex Ewert, Chris Jones, Joe Lieck, Roy Henry Lieck, Harry Lowe, and George Morrow. SERVICES: The family will receive friends Thursday, December 27, 2012 at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home, 6321 Bandera Road from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Funeral Services will be held Friday, December 28, 2012, 11:00 A.M. at Amazing Grace Lutheran Church, 12525 Potranco Road with the Rev. Steven Lunning officiating. Graveside Service and Interment will be held following the Service at Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Helotes, 9944 Leslie Road. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Amazing Grace Lutheran Church Memorial Fund or Christus VNA Hospice and Palliative Care-San Antonio, 4241 Woodcock Drive, Suite A-100, San Antonio, Texas 78228, in memory of Myrtle Lieck.
