Nabil Takla, better known as “Nab”, was a devoted father, respected pilot, and beloved member of the community. He passed away unexpectedly at the age of 62 on March 2, 2024, surrounded by his loving family and friends.
Nab was born on May 16, 1961, in Port Said, Egypt, to Claudine and Nicolas Takla. When he was four years old, he and his family moved to Adelaide, Australia, which he called home. He was the youngest of three children, with his sister Mary and brother Magdy.
In 1997, Nab moved to the United States to pursue his passion for aviation, a bold step that exemplified his adventurous spirit and determination. After earning his pilot license, he joined Baron Aviation, where he served with distinction for over fifteen years. Nab was not just a pilot; he was a mentor and friend to many in the aviation community, known for his unwavering professionalism, warmth, and a ready smile that could light up the darkest room.
Nab's love for flying was only surpassed by his love for his family. He was a doting father to his daughter, Elizabeth, instilling in her his values of courage, integrity, and the importance of following one's dreams. His love of flying was complemented by his love of sailing, the beach, and sports. He was a fanatic supporter of Port Power, The Patriots, and Crystal Palace.
He was a man of faith, kindness, and generosity, always ready to lend a helping hand. His passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew him, especially his daughter, Elizabeth; his sister, Mary; brother-in-law, Youssef; nephew, Alyx; niece, Ashlee; his partner, Marla; Elizabeth’s mother, Heidi; and all of his family and friends in Australia, the United States, and around the world. His legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched.
