

Nancy Fitch Churchill, age 95, went to be with the Lord on July 23, 2004. She was born on April 5, 1909 in San Antonio to William Edward Fitch and Nancy McCormick Evans Fitch. She had two brothers, Edward Oliphant Fitch and Walter Evans Fitch and one sister, Eleanor Fitch Williamson.
She graduated from Main Avenue High School in 1926. While attending the University of Texas at Austin she joined the Chi Omega sorority. She met and married Frank Love Churchill in 1928. They ranched in South Texas for many years and then moved to Cotulla, Texas where Nancy taught elementary school and worked for the Texas Department of Public Welfare.
She gained local notoriety for her use of carrier pigeons to relay messages from their isolated ranch.
Nancy was an animal lover and raised an assortment of dogs, cats, deer and javalinas.
After the death of her husband in 1971, she began traveling the world with friends and relatives.
She is survived by her sons, John Edward Churchill and his wife, Carol, and Frank Love Churchill, Jr. and his wife, Mary Frances; grandchildren, John Ross, Paul and Catherine Churchill; nieces, Nancy Ellen Dean, Virginia Ann Berkeley and Barbara Hill; nephews, John A. Williamson, M.D., Walter Williamson, John Thomas Fitch, M.D. and William Fitch.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Regent Care at Oakwell Farms and Vista Care Hospice for the special care she received.
