Nancy Elizabeth Smith Meyer was born in Lynwood, California to Sydney and Elsie Smith (both deceased) and passed on to Jesus on January 29, 2025 in San Antonio, Texas. She grew up in California, graduating from Long Beach Polytechnical High School in 1965 and from the University of California at Davis in 1969 with a Bachelor's Degree in English. Upon receiving a commission in the U.S. Navy in 1969, Nancy served as an Administration Officer in a Communication Station which is where she met her husband, Chris. They left the Navy in 1971 and returned to the University of Florida where Chris received an Air Force Commission through AFROTC in 1974. During their tour in Grand Forks, North Dakota, Chris was a Missile Launch Officer and Nancy earned a Master's Degree in Counseling and Guidance from the University of North Dakota in 1977. Nancy was a Guidance Counselor at Ramstein Elementary School in Ramstein, German; Stahl Elementary (NEISD); and, Lackland Elementary School on Lackland Air Force Base.
Nancy is survived by her husband, Christopher; son Ryan and his wife Dawn Meyer; granddaughters Sheridan, Margo and Darby Meyer; grandsons David and Harrison Meyer; daughter Teague Meyer Shosh and her husband Tucker; granddaughters Riley and Katelyn Shosh: twin sister Susan Adams; brother Sidney Smith Ill and Marsha Adams. Chris and Nancy were married close to 54 years.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Porter Loring Chapel North on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at 1:00 P.M..
Inurnment will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
