Nancy and I have been friends for 14 years and I am so thankful for this friendship.  Yes, she could make each of us feel like her closest friend and certainly move mountains for "Her Patients" and their needs.  Could she get us to do things we would never consider doing; absolutely.  On one of our vacations to Greece, Italy and Istambul. in the rush I forgot my swimsuit. The cruiseline only had bikini's on sale. Nancy was determined I would swim with her.  Well---she convinced me and my size 14 to buy a bikini and of course we would swim every day and I loved it! It didn't matter if we were in New York trying to get autographs outside the theatre, sitting on the ancient toilets of Ephesus or drinking wine and eating our favorite chicken fried oysters and sharing secrets at the Silo; Nancy had more passion for life and people than anyone I have ever known.  Nancy, thank you so much for touching my life and making a difference in so many of "Your Patients" lives. My sincere sympathy and prayers go out to Blake and all of her family. I'm sorry for Nancy's lost. My prayers go out to Dr.Avant, Blake, Domingo, Mac, & Yolanda. She was such a giving person, full of energy, always smiling, & always so loving & caring. I have known Nancy for well over 20 years, I first met her when I worked for Dr. Simmons and had the pleasure of working with her and Dr. Avant for 12 years.  Nancy would bend over backwards for you and had a knack for getting people to do things that she wanted them to do.  I loved her dearly and will miss her terribly.  My heart goes out to Blake, Domingo and Mac.  She loved you boys more than anything and would do anything for you.  She would complain about it, but she always did it.

Nancy was a special person who was ALWAYS willing to help people out, she treated patients and others like they were her own family members and went above and beyond for anyone who needed help.  She worked tirelessly until the wee hours of the morning and didn't hesitate to call you if she had a question at any time. When she wanted something, she would call my name in a certain high pitched way that would drive me crazy, but I sure do miss it now.  

You were a one of a kind person who touched so many people and did a lot of great things. Rest in peace. Love, Nan

I'm so sorry for for the loss of Nancy, She was my best friend. We talked every day. Sometimes she would call me at midnight or text me. She was like a sister. I worked with her for the past 7 1/2 years but had known her for close to 30 years. I will greatly miss her crazy sense of humor and the way she always spoke to her beloved dog Ms. Jazzmin (hamdog, jammy jam). She had a unique voice when talking to her dog and only she could make those sounds and expressions to get hamdog to do her tricks. She was also very kind hearted and she would do anything for you. She would give you the shirt off her back if she had to. She was also very generous. I will never forget the day that she got me 2 tickets to go see my favorite singer  "Chayanne". She got me third row seats. It was awesome and my daughter and I enjoyed it so much. I was and wasn't surprised that she got me the tickets because that was the kind of person she was. She was also a hard worker. We used to work sometimes til midnight but we always had fun doing it. She was always there to listen to my problems and give me advise. She was also there for all the patients that had trouble with their workers comp adjustors. Patients would always call her for help and she could never say no to them. I will miss her greatly. My heartfelt thoughts and prayers go out to all of Nancy's family.  I became a close friend of Nancy's 25 years ago when I started working for Dr Avant, and before that, my mom took care of Blake when he was a baby.  My grandmother would also babysit Blake on several occasions.  Nancy gave her the name "Pita" because that's what Blake would call my grandmother when he was little.  And from then on, Nance would ask me how Pita was doing when we'd talk.  I am genuinely going to miss Nancy, and will cherish all the great memories we shared.  Miss you Nance!  Love, Aggie

I'm so sorry for the loss of Nancy, I had the honor of working with her and Dr. Avant.back in the 80's and also attended Jefferson High School with her..She was a very unique person. I too remember her boundless energy and her dedication to her patients and Dr. Avant..I have many fond memories of Nancy. She had her trials in life and dealt with them bravely and courageously. Nancy loved her boys more then anything and there's nothing she wouldn't do for them.The very short time I got to work  with Nancy and Dr. Avant was a very wonderful time for me..I shall miss Nancy very much and I will always regret that I didn't get a chance to see her and visit with her since I left..Goodbye my friend I know you are having a well deserved rest...

Nancy was someone who we talked to on the phone during her years of working with Dr Avant. She seemed like a very caring person. She knew how to fight for patients. She will be missed.

Nancy was a dear friend of mine for over 25 years. She worked for Dr.Avant who we worked with in the outpatient treatment program. Nancy had an astounding energy level and work ethic. Dr.Avants office referred many patients to us and Nancy made sure we had everything we needed to successfully get the patients approved for treatment. There were times she would call me literally at two o'clock in the morning at home to tell me she was faxing records. I would say, ''Uh, Nance, do you know how late it is?'' and she'd say,'' ah No, and don't care I have got to get this work finished.'' I would just laugh. Nancy's hard work was always directed at helping others. It was to help the patients or to do a good job for her employer or to help us to do a good job. She never stopped. I used to wonder where in the world all her energy came from but it was natural to Nance. However, providing for her boys was another motivator. She loved them so much and as a single parent was responsible. However, there may have been another factor that helped keep that energy level up too. One day I was over at the office visiting to pick up records or staff cases or something and Nancy asked me if I would like a cup of coffee. I don't drink much coffee but it had been a long day so I said ''sure''. Oh My God....that was the strongest coffee I ever drank in my life. I remember talking my head off that day to whoever would listen and barely slept a wink that night. ( It was like jet fuel!! :)   Another trait of Nancy's was she was very direct and straight forward. You didn't have to wonder what she thought because she would tell you and what she had to say might be punctuated with a few expletives ( read "alot'). She had an ability to mix medical terminology with the occasional curse word that was uncanny.....and you never knew when it was coming. Sometimes even in a long day I would spit out my diet coke across the room in response to some hilarious voice mail Nancy had left me. Another trait of Nancys was 'she did not suffer fools gladly' ....now if you were willing to help yourself she would do anything to help you but if all you did was complain you would get an earful. She was refreshingly honest in that way and I am sure left some people wide-eyed. But on the other hand as I said if you were having a hard time and needed someone in your corner and were willing to help yourself Nancy was there for you. She would fight to help you in anyway she could.    Another good 'Nancy story' involves that my children came late in life and when I told her I was going to be a dad for the first time at age 49 she said, ''ARE YOU CRAZY? ''  She repeated that to me when I became a dad again at age 50 but it was more like ,''ARE YOU FREAKIN' OUT OF YOUR MIND!!? and yet when I began inundating her with pictures of my adorable kids she was always the one to email me back what every new parent wants to hear....''omg John these kids are adorable.'' That was Nancy....she could be tough but she also had a soft side. She also had a wicked sense of humor though....one time she did say.." Omg John these kids are gorgeous ...you sure they're yours?? followed by that wicked Nancy laugh.....LOL....Nancy was special ....she was a worker ...a hard worker....and if she loved you then you were in a good position in life because she would do anything for you....there are probably not nearly enough people like that in life...she will be missed by many.
