OBITUARY
Natasha Denise Christian
October 15, 1973 – January 8, 2021
Natasha Denise Johnson Christian was born in Abilene, TX on October 15, 1973 to Carol Burman Johnson and Billy Johnson. She accepted Christ at an early age and stayed actively involved in her church home throughout her lifetime.
Mrs. Christian attended Abilene Public Schools and was a proud graduate of Abilene High School. After high school, Natasha attended Hardin-Simmons University where she studied English and History, receiving her Bachelor of Arts degree in 1996. While attending Hardin-Simmons, she met her future husband Anthony, and the two were married in December of 1997. From this union, three children were born to complete their loving family.
Natasha spent her entire adult life devoting herself to public education. For the past 25 years, she has enhanced the lives of students at Arlington Heights High School, R.M. Shoemaker High School, San Antonio Southwest High School, John Paul Stevens High School, Waco High School and finally finished her career at Roosevelt High School. During her time in public education, she built lasting relationships with countless students and teachers alike and enjoyed keeping in touch with them long after they had left her class or moved on. Mrs. Christian’s passion for teaching and learning was contagious. Her desire to see students grow academically and her fellow teachers advance professionally was incredible. She was well known for having an infectious smile that she would happily share with anyone she encountered. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, teacher and friend of many and will truly be missed.
Natasha was preceded in death by her father Billy Charles Johnson and her mother Carol Darlene Burman Johnson in 1996. She is survived by her loving husband of 23 years Anthony Dale Christian; her three children: Devon Elise, Grayson Bryant and Desmond Miles; her brother Brian Burman of Minnesota and her sister Katina Johnson of Azle, Texas and many other countless relatives.
Most of all, Natasha leaves behind a legacy of love, a passion for lifelong learning, and countless friends and students who loved her dearly.

Earlier this month, we lost one of the most powerful and caring souls I have ever known.
First my teacher, and years later, one of my most valued coworkers and advocates, Natasha Christian was passionate, approachable, and hilarious, in and out of the classroom. She helped me learn to love writing, she welcomed me to the community where I had my first "grown-up" job, and she was consistently one of my greatest supporters. She has impacted me more than I may ever fully understand.
I will miss you dearly, Mrs. Christian. Thank you for all you taught me, for your grace and love, and for being the model educator and person that you were.

This world lost an inspirational and unconventional woman last week.
Natasha, your love of language, English, family, will move me for years to come. Your love of all students will never cease to amaze me.
You made me a better teacher; you made WHS a campus of learning; you made this world a better place. You will light the next world . . .

Although I didn't have the honor and pleasure of working closely with Natasha, every time I would see her she would put a smile on my face. She had such a beautiful soul and persona about her and will be greatly missed. The Pedroza family sends our condolences to Coach Christian and his family during this difficult time.

AC,
I know that words cannot take away any of the sting and loss that you and your lovely family are feeling. You and Natasha have touched countless numbers of lives and the world is a much better place for it. I am praying for you and I am thinking of that huge grin you used to show me in anatomy class back in the old days when you were sharing your gifted talents on the football field with all of us who loved watching you play. I am here for you if you ever need me.

I had the pleasure of working with Natasha at both Southwest High School and now at Roosevelt High School. She was the loveliest person I have ever met and she was well loved by her students and the faculty and staff of both high schools. I miss her terribly and think of her often. I know she is in God's loving hands and she is looking down smiling at us all. Heaven has a wonderful addition to its grace! I love you, Natasha!!!

Dearest Desmond,
My heart breaks for you and your family. It's incredibly unfair that your mother was taken so young and under such tragic circumstances. I hope you know how much your mom believed in you, was proud of you, and loved you with every fiber of her being. Please reach out if there's anything I can do for you or if you need a listening ear. I care deeply for you and am so sorry for your loss.
Hugs, Ms. DeCastro sheridend96@gmail.com
