Neil E. Jeffers Jr.

Neil E Jeffers Jr, 59, of San Antonio , Texas died unexpectedly Friday, February 21, 2014 He was born November 30, 1954 in Hamilton NY , the son of the late Neil E Jeffers and Betty Jeffers. He graduated from Oriskany Falls NY High School in 1974 and immediately entered the US Army where he served for 22 years retiring in 2011. He received numerous service awards and commendations. Neil was employed with the City of San Antonio since 2005 where he was a Texas licensed Plumbing Inspector. He obtained numerous certifications as well as licenses in plumbing and medical gas line fields. He was working on many others at the time of his death.

Neil was an active member of Abundant Life Church . He loved to work with Texas mesquite wood creating beautiful works of art. He loved his country and loved serving others being always quick to lend a hand. He was a huge John Wayne fan which you learned of quickly if you spent time with him. He loved his NY and TX families, all of which were so important to him. Always full of laughter, his smile and wit made many friends and he will be greatly missed.

Neil is survived by his loving wife of twelve years, Karen; three children and their spouses Jason(Angelica) Jeffers of San Antonio, TX, Amy(David) Leavitt of San Antonio, TX, and Mortimer Ennis, Dallas, TX, Sister Delores "Joey" Schreider, Oriskany Falls, NY Brothers Ken(Marlene) Jeffers, Jim(Barb) Jeffers, Edward(Roxanne) Jeffers, Scott(Sue) Jeffers, Paul(Mary) Jeffers, Steve Jeffers, all of Oriskany Falls, NY. Grandchildren, David and Tristan Leavitt, San Antonio, TX and Jeremiah Jeffers, San Antonio, TX, numerous nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by a brother, William Douglas Jeffers.

Visitation will take place 5-7 p.m. Sunday with a funeral service at 12:00 p.m. Monday, March 3, 2014 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel, 1701 Austin Hwy San Antonio , TX with John Quinton officiating. Interment will follow at 1:45p.m.with full military honors at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery .
