
Nell was born in San Antonio on June 25th in 1920 to Grace Cloyd Richardson and William Atkins Richardson. She attended Jefferson High School and married Wallace Earl Crain of Dallas whom she met at College Station dances. She was a military wife until 1950 and worked as a secretary at Ft. Sam Houston during the war. She continued her career as a professional secretary, working for a couple of doctor's offices, but spent most of her life working for Northeast Independent School District at Lee and Churchill High Schools and at the NEISD Secondary Education office.
A dedicated member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church, she taught Sunday School, was a member of St. Nicholas Guild, Daughters of the King, a lay reader, and served for years at the Lenten Lunches.
Nell was a sweet person who rarely spoke an unkind word. She loved dancing, live jazz music, sleeping late, and shopping. She enjoyed going to Corpus Christi and collecting shells. She adopted stray animals her entire life.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wally, who died just over 2 weeks earlier than Nell. She is survived by a daughter, Cheryl Crain Sanders; a grandson, Patrick Sanders; and a great-granddaughter, Abigail Grace Sanders.
She will be truly missed by everyone but is with the love of her life.
