Nicholas Barratachea

Nicholas Barratachea, born on December 6, 1933 in Thorndale, Texas was called to be with our Lord on December 22, 2016 at the age of 83. He is preceded in death by his parents Tiburcio and Juaquina Barratachea; son, Edward Barratachea and numerous brothers and sisters. He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years Rosa Barratachea; and his children, Michael Barratachea (Ree), John Barratachea (Sylvia), Patricia van der Heyden (Michael), Paul Barratachea, Thomas Barratachea (Diane) and Christopher Barratachea; grandchildren, Kristina, Jennifer, Nicholas, Scott, Bianca, Kai, Annika, Kari, Paloma, Cesar, Christopher Aiden and Chloe.

Mr. Barratachea was an active member of St. Leonard’s Catholic Church. He was a former member of The Knights of Columbus and served this church community in many capacities. He was a man of many skills. He enjoyed working around his house, working in his yard and loved to barbeque for his family. He was very devoted to his family and provided wisdom and life skills to his children and grandchildren. He was an extremely hard worker. He spent several years in the Marines and 30 years in the Texas Air National Guard where he worked as a Radar Technician.He is loved and will be missed by his family.

The Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at Trevino Funeral Home, 2525 Palo Alto Rd. with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. The funeral procession will depart on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at 9:30 a.m. for a 10:00 a.m. mass at St. Leonard’s Catholic Church. Interment will follow in San Fernando Cemetery No.2.
