Nicholas Carrisal III, age 73 passed away on Saturday, February 18, 2023 in his home town of San Antonio, Texas. Nicholas was born on October 05, 1949 to Nicholas Carrisal, Jr. and Marie Fisher Carrisal.
The titles which gave him the most joy were: Husband, Dad, Brother, Uncle, Nephew, Cousin and most of all PAPA! He dedicated himself to his family and leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of 50 years, Bonnie; son, Nicholas Carrisal IV; daughter, Cira Marie Crouch (John (JC) Robert Crouch III); and his three grandsons, Nicholas Carrisal V, Jude Phoenix Crouch and Remy LeBeau Carrisal. He is also survived by his sisters, Donna (Aivars) Norenberg, Theresa Hafner, and Pamela Pons.
Nicholas meets in Heaven his father, Nicholas Carrisal, Jr.; mother, Marie Fisher Carrisal; and brother, Edward James Carrisal.
Nicholas Carrisal III was born and raised in the eastside of San Antonio and had a distinct connection with our city. He attended Sam Houston High School (a true Cherokee forever alumni) and attended San Antonio College. He worked many civil and structural engineering jobs with Prescon, Pape-Dawson, Cutler Galloway Services and Barker Structural Engineering. The job that got him out of his comfort zone and gave him the greatest satisfaction was working as a Fan Experience Representative with Spurs Sports and Entertainment after he retired. He was a member of the Fiesta Flambeau Parade Association, Inc. for over 25 years serving as President from 2012-2013; he also served as Parade Director among other positions.
Nick had many interests and passions. He loved to barbeque which he passed on to his wife, son and his grandson, Jude. His most favorite passion was fishing. Any opportunity he had, he would take mini trips to the coast or lake. Even if he did not catch anything, it would give him the greatest satisfaction because anything was better than sitting in front of the TV! He loved baseball from his teams, Houston Astros and Texas Longhorns. He enjoyed working and watching the Spurs games. He never missed watching the University of Texas Longhorns football games. It wasn’t until the last few years that he took interest in soccer especially working the SAFC games. He never missed a day of watching his favorite soap, The Young & the Restless. He took pleasure traveling, his favorite spots were Pennsylvania, New Orleans (where he loved letting the good times roll) and Lockhart where he appreciated the sites and food.
Nick had a very serious side and everyone knew his no nonsense “smile”. He knew a little about everything, and he was one of few men left that you can say is a “Renaissance man.” He did not allow any challenge in life to defeat him.
Nick will be remembered for the love he had for his family, for his gardening skills and spending time planting his favorite tomato and flower plants. He will be remembered for watching his grandsons play baseball and teaching them some special skills and teaching the way of life to his grandsons and to never give up! He fought the hard fight!
Special thanks to the nurses, Lisa and Makayla, Chaplains Nathan and Brenda and Rosie Aguilar from Opus Care Hospice for their loving attention and care.
A celebration of life for Nicholas will be held Friday, April 14, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Sunset North Funeral Home, 910 N Loop 1604 E., San Antonio, Texas 78232.
