

He lived a long life celebrated with faith, hope, and love. His life included a 21 year career in the United States Air Force, and a 58 year marriage to Eva Cuellar De La Rosa who preceded him in death in 2014. He is survived by 7 children, 16, grandchildren, and 23 great-grandchildren. Survivors include Edward De La Rosa and family, Norma Lofgren, husband Richard and family, Robert De La Rosa, wife Raquel and family, Diana Gunia and husband Michael, Jaime De La Rosa, wife Kristina and family,Nicholas C. De La Rosa III and partner Mark, and Joseph L. De La Rosa and family.
Nicholas’ career in the United States Air Force included tours in Del Rio, Texas, where he met his wife Eva. Then he was stationed in Goose Bay, Labrador, Canada, during the Cold War, Izmir, Turkey, Del Rio, Texas, Saigon, Vietnam, during The Vietnam War, Blytheville, Arkansas, after his return from The Vietnam War, and finally Madrid, Spain, where he finished his illustrious career as a Fire Fighter at the rank of Technical Sargent in the position of Assistant Fire Chief.
Following his retirement from the United States Air Force, he worked in Civil Service for the USAF Fire Department at Laughlin Air Force Base, Del Rio, Texas. When his time with Civil Service ended, he opened a TV Repair Shop. In his later years Nicholas found another calling: woodworking and creating jewelry. Nicholas’ longevity can be attributed to staying busy, being creative, and his faith in God. Nicholas was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Del Rio, Texas, and served as a member of the St. Vincent De Paul committee there. Family and friends can honestly say that Nicholas served his country, served his family, and served God throughout his life.
