Nick D. Carr, beloved husband, father and grandfather entered into rest peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, September 18, 2014 at the age of 81.
He was born to Clyde Graves Carr, Sr. and Katherine Speedy Carr on August 2, 1933 in Crystal City, Texas. Nick was a prominent South Texas rancher and real estate developer who championed many causes close to his heart including the creation and development of many youth programs in Maverick County as well as his support of the stock show and rodeo organization.
He was an active lifelong supporter of Our Lady of Refuge School and Church in Eagle Pass and his contributions to the community are as far reaching as was his generosity. Perseverance and persistence were the attributes which guided him to success. Honesty and integrity were the ones that kept him there.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Clyde Carr, Jr. and his only son, Gentry Dean Carr. Nick is survived by his wife, Olga Carr; children Lisa and husband, Morrie Cukier, Cristina and husband, Barron Henney and Cynthia Carr; brother, Don L. Carr; sister, Mary Kay McQuigg and grandchildren, Sterling and Nicholas.
