

Nolan Bartoskewitz, beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather went home to be with the Lord late Saturday night, March 7, 2015. Nolan was born the youngest of 5 children to Alvin and Hedwig (Wagner) Bartoskewitz on October 20, 1925 on a farm in Zorn, TX. While in high school at San Antonio Vocational and Technical School (Fox Tech), he enjoyed many competitive athletic and sports activities. In 1943 he entered the Army Air Corps where he served as an aviation cadet. He was assigned to the 508th Fighter Group of the 20th Army Air Corps. During WWII, his tour of duties included domestic and overseas campaigns.
When Nolan returned from the war, he continued his education at San Antonio College and St. Mary's University, majoring in business administration. During this post war period, he met his future wife of 61 years, Aileen Muenchow. Aileen preceded him in death in 2007. From their marriage, Nolan and Aileen raised 7 children. Throughout his life, he greatly enjoyed spending time with his family, particularly, the special dinners and Holiday gatherings, hunting and fishing, playing cards, casino games, watching sporting events, game shows, and having meaningful conversations with his loved ones.
Nolan held various accounting and finance positions throughout his life and in 1980 retired from civil service as the Executive Deputy of Finance & Accounting Officer, headquartered at Ft. Sam Houston. Prior and subsequent to that time, he performed accounting and tax preparation services, and was an IRS Registered Tax Return Preparer who was active in his practice up until the time of his recent illness. Nolan was, also, an active member of the National Society of Accountants, Texas Association of Financial and Tax Specialists, National Association of Retired Federal Employees, the American Association of Retired Persons and attended Redeemer United Church of Christ in Zuehl.
Nolan was a generous patriarchal leader of his family survived by the following legacy: 7 children and their spouses: Georgie Greenstreet, Dennis & Cherie Bartoskewitz, Diana & Robert Giddings, Denise & Doug Hunt, Annette & David Norman, Debi Maher & John Kush, and Julie & Ruben Villarreal; 12 grandchildren, some with spouses: Loretta Agosto, J.D. & Jayna Hunt, Lorene & Andre Dillard, Jason & Kristin Hunt, Robert and Liz Giddings, Brandon and Ashley Bartoskewitz, James and Lindsay Traber, Brittany Bartoskewitz, Anndeline Traber, Amanda Villarreal, Miranda Maher, and Rene Nolan Villarreal; 7 great grandchildren: Christian Agosto, Kyle Dillard, Travis Dillard, Caleigh Agosto, Julia Dillard, Ally Traber, and Landon Gonzalez. Nolan also leaves behind a nephew, Wilfred Bartoskewitz, with whom he had a fond, lifelong relationship and was like a younger brother to him.
Visitation will be held at Sunset Funeral Home this Thursday, March 12th from 7:00–9:00 PM. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 13th at 3:00 PM in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. Pallbearers are Nolan`s 6 grandsons.
Graveside service will follow at the Lone Oak Cemetery, Geronimo, TX. A reception and meal to visit with the family will take place either at Friedens United Church of Christ or the Ag Center, both of which are in immediate proximity of the cemetery. The exact details will be provided at the Funeral service.
In remembrance of Nolan, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Texas Agricultural Education & Heritage Center at 390 Cordova Rd., Seguin, TX 78155.
