Norma Nadine was born July 25, 1927 in Etna, Arkansas to Preston & Estelle Early. After finishing school she hoped to become a nurse. Later she did work at a Catholic Hospital as a Nurse's Aide. This Hospital in Arkansas was operated by nuns. She indicated she had many 'moms', as the nuns took her under their wings and taught her many things.
She later worked as a waitress at the Lone Star Cafe in Ft. Smith, Ark. It was in this Cafe that
a young, handsome Captain stopped for a meal while he was on his way to Camp Chaffe to serve as Provost Marshal for the Fifth Armored Division. He had just driven straight through from San Antonio. So began the beginning of a lifelong romance. After dating a year, Nadine married her handsome Captain. Together they had four children, 3 boys and a girl.
Too soon, however, he had to leave for his next assignment in Salzburg, Austria, where she joined him with their first child, as soon as quarters were available. Other places she has lived are Vienna; Atlanta, Georgia and Chicago, Illinois.
Nadine enjoyed working in the yard and garden and tending to her many, many, many plants and flowers. When she wasn't in the yard you would find her in the house reading, which is something else she enjoyed doing.
Her favorite colors were rose, yellow and purple. She enjoyed eating these favorite foods: steak, Mexican food and seafood. Her favorite flowers were roses and gladiolus.
Nadine's favorite vacation was one month of traveling in Germany, France, Italy and England before returning back to America. She always dreamed of going to Hawaii on vacation someday.
In addition to her parents, Nadine was preceded in death by her loving husband Roy, two older brothers and one younger brother. She is survived by her children, numerous grandchildren, as well as two great granddaughters.
