April 6, 1939September 6, 2019

Norma Ramirez Salinas, 80, passed away peacefully at her home in San Antonio on September 06, 2019 surrounded by her loving family. She was a beloved wife, sister, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend and will be deeply missed by all those that knew her.

Many will remember Norma for her dedication and service to The Laredo Community College from 1977 until her retirement in 1994. She served as a counselor, instructor and administrator. Norma was especially devoted to the Upward Bound Program. She loved these kids as her own and would often counsel them with their long term goals and personal matters. She was also very passionate about the Tech-Prep Program serving as Chairperson of the Career and Guidance Committee. She believed in preparing students for success after college.

Norma enjoyed creating home-made greeting cards and floral arrangements for family and friends. She adored all her grandchildren and she enjoyed creating precious memories with them. She also found joy while observing her bird sanctuary in her backyard. Norma was also passionate about her family history. She was an active member and officer in the Villa San Agustin de Laredo Genealogical Society. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband Manuel G. Salinas, and her siblings Irene Trevino (Joe), Lupita (Esther) Cruz (Juan), Rosa Grimes (Mike), Rebeca Eigen and Pete Ramirez (Robert). Her memory will also be cherished by her daughters Terry Woodruff (Jimmy), Veronica "Ronnie" McElvany (Kim), and Christelle Farias (Felipe) and by her grandchildren Aubrey Woodruff, Austin Woodruff, Zachary McElvany, Andrew McElvany, Anissa Farias and Alessandro Farias and numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives.

We would like to express our heart-felt gratitude to all the doctors and nurses at Stone Oak Methodist Hospital, Vitas Healthcare, and Nurse Next Door for providing compassionate and loving care. We lovingly remember Norma and are saddened by her passing. She and my sister, Emma Rodriguez Gallego who lives in Wichita Falls, were the best of friends in high school. She was a lovely soul and her passing life has left something beautiful behind. My sister and I extend our most heartfelt sorrow and condolences. May God embrace her in the Kingdom of Heaven.

I remember with love and fondness my dear cousin Norma. I think of her as always smiling and cheerful. And I always enjoyed her calling me "Chuck Chuy", since my middle name is Jesus. My condolences to everyone that loves her (present tense intended). May she rest in peace.
