Norma was our beloved “Mamo” and she taught all of us that love was all
this world needs. Raised in Santa Rosa, TX. She was 1 of 9 children, and
had a gift for making sure people felt valued in their life.
She met the love of her life in 1974, driving her red mustang and wearing
a fashionable blue corduroy jacket with a fur collar. Sonny met her on a
weekday, they went to their first dance on that Saturday and have loved
each other “to the moon and back” ever since. She graduated with her
B.A. In 1974, married that same year and began her career in early
childhood development. A career that spanned over 4 decades. Helping
kids realize their potential and understand their incredible worth, Mrs. V
got her students to do things that no one was else was able to, because
she truly believed in them and did not let them get away with thinking
they were not capable.
She gave birth to her first child in 1977 and her passion in life was born.
She was a dedicated mother who put her children first always. Her Sons
challenged her and helped her forever find laughter in life. Then in 2008
it was written in the stars that the family would welcome another child,
their oldest daughter was revealed. Norma did not miss a beat, she
ensured that Michelle knew she was family. Norma welcomed with open
arms the partners of her children, and she had a way of ensuring those
partners took good care of her babies. She was able to embrace 8
amazing grandchildren and touched their lives in immeasurable ways. She
instilled a strong sense of family and duty to care for one another. Norma
kept an impeccable home, always tidy and perfectly inviting. She had a
timeless sense of style and was always dressed perfectly for an event or
just for the day. We will remember her beauty and her grace.
Norma fought a long and tumultuous battle with her husband at her side,
for 2 1⁄2 years she battled like a warrior, and bravely chose to end the
fight at her home surrounded by those she loved the most. She would be
incredibly proud of the way her children have all rose to the occasion of
caring for each other in her passing. Making sure we are all taken care of
and supported, making her proud every moment. Allowing her legacy to
live on in the love her grandchildren send into the world. Blessings to
you, Norma “Mamo” Villarreal, the world is truly a better place because
you were in it.
