

Norman Ernest Cawse-Morgon was born January 22, 1916 in London, England, to Cecil Ernest Cawse-Morgon and Gertrude Emmie May Morris.
He arrived in the United States in 1921, at age 5, and later became a naturalized U.S. citizen. After the death of his father, his mother married William John Jack Stansbury and the family lived in Forest Hills, New York.
Norman attended school in Queens Borough, New York City, graduating from Jamaica High School in 1934. He attended Princeton University and graduated with an A.B. Degree in Modern Language in 1938.
In 1939, Norman worked in the Andes Mountains in Columbia, South America, with an oil pipeline company.
Norm enlisted in the United States Army Air Corps in 1941 and accepted a commission as a 2nd Lt in 1942. He served his country in the 9th Air Force in North Africa and Italy during World War II. Additional active service included work in the Historical Division of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of HQ 9th Air Force Intelligence, an assignment in Izmir, Turkey, and teaching assignments in New York and South Carolina. Norm retired from active service in the U.S. Air Force in 1964.
On January 4, 1956, Norm married Claire Miller, of Philadelphia, Mississippi. The ceremony took place in Washington, D.C. where they met and worked. After 23 years in the U.S. Air Force, the couple moved to San Antonio, Texas, where they owned and operated employment agencies under the Snelling & Snelling franchise for almost 20 years in San Antonio and Corpus Christi, TX. Norm spoke and read several languages and his extensive travels included the United States, Europe, Central and South America, Russia, China and several African countries. He read voraciously and was an avid book collector. His special interests included military history, Classical literature and languages, archaeology, paleontology, the natural world and the environment. A life-long learner, Norman enjoyed both the pursuit and the acquisition of knowledge.
Norm was preceded in death by his wife, Claire Miller Cawse-Morgon; father, Cecil Cawse-Morgon; mother, Gertrude Morris Stansbury; step-father, William John Stansbury; sisters in law, Frances Miller Bach, and Billie Miller Griffith.
He is survived by his sister-in-law, Margaret Miller White; nieces, Cynthia Bach Bleier, Anne White Foster, Karen Griffith Trippe; nephews, William Thomas Bach, Charles Gregory Griffith, 8 great nieces and nephews, and his long-term caregiver, Patricia Ortega.
