He was a former City Editor for the New York World Telegram and Sun, received a Pulitzer Prize for Journalism, wrote a syndicated column for United Feature Syndicate, authored 6 books and hundreds of magazine articles and spent countless years in Radio, TV, and Film. Even in his retirement he continued to help new authors with their manuscripts.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Valborg Palmer Mockridge of San Antonio; his daughter, Nancy G.M. Miner of Black Rock, CT; his son, John R. Mockridge of Stuart, FL; a stepdaughter, Lita Von Lieres of Munich, Germany. He is also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as extended family and many dear friends.
He was predeceased by a son Phillip Mockridge.
