“Nort” went to be with his Savior and his departed wife Sue on Monday, June 9, 2025 after a long and blessed life. Nort was born in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1935, and grew up in Warren, Ohio. He attended Warren G. Harding High School, where he was valedictorian. He met his dear wife, Susie Sullivan, there, and they became fast friends since their last names were so close in the alphabet that they were always seated next to one another. They began dating when as co-leads of their senior play, they had to kiss in the final act, and Nort kept making mistakes so they would have to run through the scene again and again.
They both chose The University of Michigan and Nort received a bachelor’s in business administration in 1957. They married after graduating and began their married life in Hawaii where Nort served as an Ensign Supply Officer in the US Navy. Nort began his business career with IBM marketing their huge, room-size computers. They had their three sons while living in Georgia. He moved to Dallas to work for Ross Perot and EDS. Recognition Equipment took the family to Chicago, and then Frankfurt, Germany. He retired as president of BancTec in Dallas. Nort served as a deacon at both Highland Park Presbyterian and Park Cities Presbyterian, and was a member of First Presbyterian, San Antonio. He was a very loving grandfather and among his effects was found the notebook in which he recorded all the first words, phrases, and actions of his six beloved grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his father, Norton A. Stuart, Sr. and his mother, Olga Marie Hess Stuart, he is survived by his three sons, Tripp (Chaney) of San Antonio, TX; Doug (Katie) of Charlotte, NC; and Mark (Kelly) of Longview, TX. His dear sister Lynn Stuart Carmody of Charleston, SC was able to relive memories with him on the phone two days before he died. His grandchildren are Meghan (James Gallagher), Campbell (Maria Paleologos), Meredith (Jeremy West), Avery, Harrison, and Jennings, and he has two great-grandchildren, Tug and Emy West, and a third great-grandchild on the way.
The family would like to especially thank all his friends on the staff of The Forum Lincoln Heights, and Gentiva Hospice, and his nurse Patty Zapata.
