

Omer Austin Bill Fessenden, age 83, passed from this life on November 15, 2002. He was a 60 year resident of San Antonio who had lived in New Braunfels for the last six years. Bill was born on June 22, 1919 in Pawhuska, OK to Omer Fessenden and Hattie Evans Fessenden. He married the love of his live, Inehta Phipps Fessenden of O'Donnell, TX in 1940. He proudly served in the Army Air Corps during World War II, reaching the rank of Staff Sergeant. Bill spent most of his life in the construction business, staring his own successful company, O.A. Fessenden, Inc. in San Antonio in 1954 which went on to build many public schools, buildings and malls during the next 35 years. He was an avid golfer who also dabbled in thoroughbred horse breeding and cotton farming. Recently Bill had enjoyed traveling around the New Braunfels area entertaining nursing homes with the Ukulele band from the New Braunfels Senior Center. Bill was preceded in death by his loving wife, Inetha; sister, Elita; and brothers, Dan and Alex. He is survived by his son, David Austin Fessenden and his life partner, Chris Hendrix of Dallas, TX; daughter and son-in-law, Nanci Leigh and Richard Struble of Seguin; his grandchildren, Cory, Craig and Carla Struble; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He will be remembered for his willingness to give of himself to others, his ability to put people at ease and for his love of life.
