Born to Manuel and Concha Flores, Ofelia built her life on devotion to her family, her home, and the simple, meaningful moments that brought everyone together. To her, family was everything. She was the heart of every gathering, the steady presence her loved ones could always count on, and the one who made everyone feel at home the moment they walked through her door.
She is lovingly survived by her children, Javier Torres (Cookie Luna Torres), Ruben Torres, David Torres, Roland Torres (Gloria Longoria), and Connie Torres Tenorio; her dear sisters, Esther Martinez and Anna Flores; her sister-in-law; Esther Villarreal, her 10 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Each of them carries forward her spirit, strength, and the deep, unconditional love she so generously gave.
Ofelia expressed her love most beautifully through caring for others. Her home was always open, and she never let anyone leave without offering her signature “coffee and comida.” Cooking was her love language, and her meals brought comfort, laughter, and togetherness to all who gathered around her table. She found joy in dancing, listening to music, and most of all, being surrounded by her family.
A woman of strong work ethic and quiet grace, Ofelia dedicated over 20 years to Montgomery Ward, where she crafted custom curtains with care and precision, and more than 15 years at The Room Store, where she warmly greeted all who entered. No matter how hard she worked, her family always came first.
Ofelia is now reunited in heaven with her beloved husband, Javier Francisco Torres Sr.; her adored siblings, Celia Flores, Carmen Elizondo, Eva Villarreal, Mike Castillo, Robert Castillo, Roger Flores, Ricky Longoria; her daughter in law, Esperanza G. Torres;
Ofelia’s life was a testament to love, sacrifice, and the power of family. Her warmth, strength, and the way she made everyone feel seen and cared for will live on forever in the hearts of those who knew her.
Her family extends their deepest gratitude to ANZ Hospice, especially Arnold and Jennifer De Luna, for their compassionate care and for ensuring her comfort. They also give heartfelt thanks to Mary Helen Rodriguez for her devoted support, and to Irma Macias and Marissa Villarreal, whose unwavering presence and love never left Ofelia’s side from beginning to end.
