Olga Cajas Colorado peacefully passed away on December 9, 2024, at the age of 73. Born on October 21, 1951, in San Angelo to Jose and Eloiza Cajas, Olga was a lifelong resident of San Angelo until 2016, when she moved to San Antonio to be closer to her beloved grandchildren.
Olga was preceded in death by her parents; her devoted husband of 50 years, Miguel Jr. Colorado; her brothers Joe, Johnnie, Dickie, and Ronnie Cajas; and her sisters Josephina Hernandez, Ofelia Schaeff, and Francis Crites. The reunion of these cherished loved ones brings comfort to those who remain, knowing the joy and warmth her arrival must have brought to those waiting for her.
A proud graduate of Central High School in 1970, Olga dedicated her life to nursing and service. She earned an Associate of Science in Nursing from El Paso Community College in 1978, and later a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Angelo State University. In March of 1979, she began her nursing career at Shannon Hospital in San Angelo, where she worked for over 25 years in the nursery, ultimately becoming a charge nurse and later a Prenatal Educator. Olga retired from Shannon in 2006, but her passion for helping others continued when she worked as a clinic nurse in Women’s Health at Goodfellow Air Force Base from 2006 to 2014.
Olga’s life was a beautiful reflection of her selflessness, love, and unwavering support for those around her. She was a constant presence at family gatherings, always prioritizing the importance of celebrating life’s milestones with those she held dear. Her three daughters—Jackie Colorado, Andrea Sotelo (husband Matt), and Stephanie Colorado—were the center of her world. Olga’s brother, Israel Cajas (wife Rachel) and sister, Dorothy Calvary (husband Jimmy), will forever remember her as a guiding light in their lives. Her five grandchildren—Marissa, Eliana, Anthony, Zayde, and Eleni—will carry forward her legacy of love, kindness, and joy.
Olga’s deep faith was the foundation of her life. As a devoted member of Nazareth Presbyterian Church in San Angelo, she lived her beliefs through acts of kindness, always ready to offer a helping hand or a listening ear. Her love of dance and infectious laughter brought joy to everyone around her, and her presence radiated warmth and compassion.
Though we mourn her loss, we celebrate the remarkable woman she was. Olga’s life was a testament to love, resilience, and selflessness. She touched countless lives through her compassion and generosity, and her legacy will live on in the hearts of those she loved and the lessons she imparted.
Olga’s earthly journey may have ended, but her spirit remains alive in all who knew her. Her memory will continue to inspire, guide, and comfort us. May she rest in peace, and may her memory be a blessing to all who had the privilege of knowing her.
The family will receive guests from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. December 30th, 2024 at Porter Loring Mortuary North.
