Olga Garcia Guevara, a beloved soul with a profound passion for music, peacefully departed on December 4, 2023. Preceded in death by her parents, Pete Robert Garcia and Juanita Lopez Garcia, and her husband, Al Guevara, Olga leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.
Survived by her son Jerry Guevara, sister Helen Flores, brother-in-law Dick B. Flores, niece Suzanne Flores, nephew Richard Mark Flores, and niece Shirley Mazuca, Olga’s family was a source of joy and connection throughout her life.
From a young age, Olga’s love for music blossomed, with her playing the piano by age of 8 and later showcasing her talent as a clarinetist in the Brackenridge High School band. After graduating in 1950, she pursued her passion at Our Lady of the Lake College, continuing to play the piano for years to come.
Together with her husband Al, Olga embarked on countless adventures, exploring the corners of the globe. Their travels took them to South America, China, Japan, India, Europe, behind the Iron Curtain to Finland, Russia, Romania, Poland, Bulgaria, Turkey, and Switzerland. Their last grand journey was to the southern tip of Africa on a photographic safari, capturing moments that would forever linger in their hearts.
Olga’s warmth, grace, and love will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. May her melodies echo in our hearts and may the memories of her travels bring comfort to those who mourn her passing. The family will receive friends for a visitation from 6:00-7:00 PM, Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at Porter Loring North.
