Dear Martha, please accept my deepest condolences. We have just learned of Olin's passing. I will remember his concern and devotion to his parents.

I met Olin when my sons & I joined Troop 285. Olin and I shared a numers of views about life and scouting. He was a great person to have on any outing because he knew how to organize and keep just about any mechanical device working. Olin and I referred to each other as "grumpy" but he had a great sense of humor and was a shining 
example of what a scouter should be. Olin did not feel comfortable with all of the new ways that were becoming "acceptable".He was never afraid to tell anyone when something was wrong. Olin was a true friend. I would pack with him anywhere anytime. Goodbye Olin...I will miss you...Fred

Olin was an experienced scouter when my son and I joined T285, and he was so welcoming and helpful to me and my son, Evan. I had the good fortune to sit in on Justin's Eagle Scout board, and saw the product of loving parents in him; a fine young man. My thoughts and prayers are with you in this loss. You have many happy times and Olin's goodness to sustain you and to share with your family. God bless.

I was a young man -- a boy scout in Troop 285 -- when Mr. Gover was an adult leader. He was tough, but fair, and we young boys respected and loved him. I regret the vicissitudes of life that separate us from those who have influenced us in our youth, and I certainly wish I could have let Mr. Gover know how much he meant to me. This is my way of saying thank you and good bye to a highly respected and respectable man.

During the 1980's we owned a body shop in Austin, Texas. Olin was one of my weekly vendors that came by the shop. He was always happy and provided the products I needed. When we moved into a new house in 1989, he brought us a wooden fort his son had outgrown. Our sons used that fort till we sold the house in 2005. Some weeks he would visit about lunch and we would go to eat at a Mexican restaurant in East Austin that was excellent because it was a hole in the wall and Olin knew the food was good. Olin was a good friend and knowledgeable parts person for our body shop. Even though we haven't been in touch lateley, his memory lives on in the yellow parts boxes marked "Car Products" that are still in my personal garage. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. He always was smiling and we loved when we talked to him. God needed him and had a purpose when he took him. He doesn't have pain anymore and he is in heaven and is an Angel.
