

Olivia Theriot, or as she was called by close family members (Terry or Marian) was born on May 26, 1934 to the late Eliza Matthews Theriot and the late Willie Theriot, Sr both of Houma Louisiana. After a long and faithful life of service to others, Olivia went home at the blessed age of 86 on Wednesday, February 24th, 2021. She is preceded in death and welcomed home by her parents, Willie Theriot Sr, and Eliza Matthews Theriot, three brothers, Willie Theriot Jr., Thomas Theriot Sr., Earl Theriot, Sr. and one sister Betty Theriot.
Olivia lived a long and prestigious life. Her distinguished life accomplishments started in High School as she was named Senior Class President of Southdown High in Houma, LA. After graduation, she continued her life of service to others by becoming a Registered Nurse and serving at General Hospital #1 in Kansas City, Missouri. While working at General Hospital # 1, Olivia realized her medical skills were in demand by the country she so loved. It was the combination of service to others and love of country that influenced her decision to enlist in the United States Air Force. Her tenure in the Air Force allowed her to travel all over the world.
During her distinguished 20-year service with the United States Air Force, she received 5 Air Medals I, awarded while serving during the Vietnam War. Her record equates to 35 combat missions. She retired from the US Air Force in 1979, achieving the rank of Lt. Colonel. After her years of faithfully serving her country, Olivia decided to make her home in San Antonio, Texas.
Olivia continued her service to others by not only continuing to work as a Head Nurse at Wilford Hall Ambulatory Surgical Center, Lackland AFB, TX but also, becoming the First Homeowners Association President of the Great Northwest Sub-division. While serving as HOA President, she was named Precinct Captain. This appointment allowed her to be more entuned to the needs of her community.
It was also during this time, she began another notable career, as a Mary Kay Consultant, excelling to the level of Director and becoming the 1st Consultant to be awarded the Emeritus Status of Sales by Mary Kay Inc.
Academically, Olivia holds double master’s Degrees in Arts in Urban Studies from the University of Texas and Sociology from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. She was a member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority. Her life story has been written about in “Cambridge’s Who’s Who, 100 Most Influential People” and “We Were There”.
Olivia was a devoted, active worshipper, and served as her Sunday School Class President (exercising lots of control), greeter, and a part of the Prayer Team. She was a member of the Pastor Search Committee at Crossroads Baptist Church that brought the current pastor, Dr. Doug Diehl, to the church 28 years ago. Olivia also later joined Macedonia Baptist Church.
Olivia Theriot leaves to celebrate her homegoing, her loving sister, Bertha Theriot Eatman of Kansas City, MO; sister-in-law, Geraldine Theriot of Houma, LA; her goddaughter and niece, Dianna Lynne Eatman of Kansas City, MO, several Devoted nieces and nephews, as well as a host of cousins, extended family, neighbors, and church family.
