

Ollie Sanders Bryant was born on August 16, 1931 in Saginaw, Michigan to Laura Lott Sanders and Andrew Sanders, originally from Louisiana and Mississippi, respectively. She attended Potter Elementary School and Saginaw High in Saginaw, then later the University of Michigan where she received her Artium Baccalaureus (which is a fancy name for Bachelor of Arts) degree. Years later she received a masters degree from Fairleigh Dickerson University in Teaneck, New Jersey.
On May 17, 1958, Ollie married Frank Bryant, Jr. and after several years of marriage they had two children, Frank Bryant, III in November 1961 and David Bryant in December 1964.
Toward the latter part of her professional career Ollie worked serially as the Associate Director of Financial Aid at Princeton University; the University Financial Aid Director at New York University, and Assistant Vice President of Scholarship and Financial aid at Trinity University in San Antonio. Ollie retired from Trinity, continued to reside in San Antonio, and enjoyed a busy and eventful 30-year retirement in the Alamo City; her adopted home. Ollie was also a proud member of the San Antonio Chapter of The Links, Inc.-serving as Chapter president from 1997 to 1999. She was a Link member for over 40 years.
In her spare time Ollie was also an avid traveler. Throughout the years she journeyed to Spain, the United Kingdom, France, Greece, Morocco, Russia, China, Egypt, Italy, and Japan and all around the Caribbean. Locally, Ollie enjoyed playing Bridge with her San Antonio Bridge mates and in her dancing days loved to do the Jitter Bug. Further, Ollie was on the Carver Culteral Center Development Board, a board member of the Battered Womans Shelter and a season subscriber to the Houston Opera.
In addition to her sons Frank and David, Ollie is survived by her grandson, Franklin Thomas Bryant-Johnson; her granddaughter, Jaden Laura Mann Bryant; two nieces: Rosemary Robinson Brewer and Linda Robinson, and a nephew, Dempsey Allen. Ollie is pre-deceased by her parents, her husband, Frank Bryant, Jr., two brothers: Curtis Robinson and James Martin. Her third niece, Janette Robinson, passed away on January 11, 2022 six days before her passing.
Ollie always maintained a joyous, uplifting spirit and well miss her love and support.
