Omar Adnan Ahmad, an Army veteran, handyman, dog lover, banterer, and extremely caring person, died on September 19, 2023, at the University Health System Hospital in San Antonio, TX, after he was involved in a motorcycle accident. He was 44.
Omar was the firstborn of the family and was a natural leader. Born in Baghdad, Iraq, in 1979, he enjoyed soccer, swimming, gymnastics, and other athletic endeavors. Later, he developed an insatiable enthusiasm for speed motorcycles, leading him to practice on several racetracks and in long, competitive US and European trips.
After graduating in 2001 with a B.Sc. in Computer Engineering, he worked in several technical jobs until he immigrated to the USA in 2009 and joined the US Army. He served multiple tours overseas, earning him awards and commendations for his work ethic and devotion to his fellow service members.
Omar is survived by his parents, Adnan and Sameerah Mousa, and his siblings Ali (Kristine Clark), Merriam, and Mays Mousa (Hasan Kareem), all of San Antonio, TX.
There was no end to the acts of kindness he performed in his life. Due to the humble nature of his character, no one fully knew who he helped, when, or how much each day, but outside of motorcycles, volunteering and helping others was his daily motivation. He was always willing to watch your pet, fix your car, or even help you move across the country at the drop of a hat.
While Omar's passion for riding motorcycles cut his young life short, he constantly promoted safe driving, wearing helmets and proper gear, and respecting other motorists.
