Opal Ilene Carmichael

CARMICHAEL, Opal Ilene, age 92, of San Antonio, entered into rest June 16, 2018. She was born to Julius and Marie Rebstock in Centralia, Illinois on November 25, 1925. Opal was a loving wife and a devoted mother. She was a fun-loving social butterfly, had a great sense of humor, and loved to laugh, cook, and sing. Opal had a special tenderness for animals and babies. She was also very artistic, creative and loved to travel the world. Opal is preceded in death by her parents, Julius and Marie; first husband, Lt. Col. Vincent H. Mack; sisters, Martha Patterson and Mildred Hargrove; and brother, Julius Rebstock. She is survived by her husband, Col. Jack C. Carmichael; three children, Valerie (Jeffrey) Lefebvre, Donald (Kim) Mack, Thomas (Maureen) Mack; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister, Betty Sprehe, brother Donald (Liz) Rebstock; and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial service will be Friday, June 22, 2018 at 10 am at the Army Residence Community Chapel.
