Oralia Garza Ortiz

Oralia Garza Ortiz, age 87, passed away September 22, 2023 in Euless TX. She was born in Nueva Rosita, Coahuila, Mexico on January 29, 1936 to Luis Campos and Maria Elena Briseño Garza. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend who will be dearly missed.

She was an avid singer (personally and in church choirs); fabulous tamale maker and cook; sponsored the Hot Chocolate for “Día de Virgin de Guadalupe festivities “; a renowned seamstress and embroiderer for the Fiesta’s Order of the Alamo Coronation dresses; enjoyed taking trips with her family; and a passionate fisherwoman.

Mrs. Ortiz was preceded in death by husband (Eli M. Ortiz), parents, siblings, and multiple nephews and nieces.

She is survived by children Luis Angel Ortiz (Irma Corpus-Ortiz), Gricelda Ortiz Christie (Jeffery Scott Christie), Monica Ortiz-Rodriguez (Tony Rodriguez); grandchildren (Luis, Jessenia Elizabeth Gonzalez, and Jasmin Rodriguez); brother-in-law Carlos M. Ortiz (Sylvia Ortiz) and numerous nephews and nieces both in the U.S and Mexico.

The visitation will be at 6 pm, Tuesday October 24, 2023 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with the Rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be at 10 am, Wednesday 25 October 2023 at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church, 10703 Wurzbach Rd., San Antonio, TX 78230. The burial following at Sunset Memorial Park.
