Oscar G Fernandez

Oscar G. Fernandez of San Antonio, Texas passed away peacefully on November 28, 2023 at the age of 82. Oscar found the love of his life, Hope Flores in middle school and they married January 3, 1960. They had four children; Cynthia, Carolyn, Oscar Jr. and Christine. Oscar worked at Kelly-Moore Paint for 40 years and retired as the Store Manager in 2006. After retiring, he enjoyed the company of his wife and family. He loved fishing trips to the coast and going to Kickapoo to gamble. It was a good day if he got to play dominoes, won on his scratch offs or spent time with those he loved. Everyone enjoyed sitting around the table hearing his life stories. He was filled to the brim with knowledge, he could fix or build anything. He was fearless, witty & ever the comedian.

He is survived and will be missed by his loving wife of 64 years, Hope F. Fernandez, daughters Cynthia Ann Fernandez, Carolyn Lopez (George) & Christine Mendoza (Michael), grandchildren Jason, Phillip, Celeste, Priscilla, Jennifer, Jeremy, Samantha, Oscar III, Alyssa, Sebastian, Mariah, Andrew, great grandchildren Ruben Andrew, Emma, Ava, Sophie, Ariana, Adam II, Sophia, Danni Jae, Isabella, Jaxon & Charlie. His brother Gilbert G. Fernandez.

He is preceded in death by his son Oscar Jr., parents Ismael and Paula, siblings Ismael Jr., Arturo, Armandina, Minerva and Hector.

Oscar will be remembered for all the love and laughs he shared with his friends and family. He truly loved each of them.

He leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter.

Visitation will be at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home Tuesday, December 5, 2023 beginning at 6:00 P.M. with a rosary at 7:00 P.M. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, December 6, 2023 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church with interment to follow at San Fernando Cemetery # 3.
