

Pat C. Villalon-Sherry (née DeLuna) died on April 22, 2012 at the age of 72. She was born on February 21, 1940, the daughter of Zeferino & Carolina DeLuna, proprietors of the DeLuna Fruit Stand on McCullough and Annie. She had one brother, Zeferino DeLuna Jr., deceased. Pat attended Cambridge Elementary & Alamo Heights Junior & Senior High Schools. After a year a Trinity University, she married her first husband, Tony Villalon, a marriage lasting until his death in 1996. Pat worked at Joske’s of Texas, the Post Office, Frost Brothers, and the Edgewood Independent School District. She returned to night school at San Antonio College and transferred to St. Mary’s University after her two sons graduated, earning a Bachelor’s Degree herself. After retirement, Pat met her second husand, Dr. Norman Sherry at the former Olmos Pharmacy soda fountain. They fell in love and got married.
Pat is survived by her husband, Dr. Norman Sherry, biographer & professor of English; sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas & Socorro Villalon and Ted & Nora Villalon; grandsons, Thomas Anthony & Richard Anthony Villalon; and numerous other beloved relatives.
The visitation will be 6 p.m., Thursday, April 26, 2012 with a Rosary to be recited at 7 p.m., at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 102 S. Audubon, San Antonio, TX 78212. Funeral Mass will be 9:30 a.m., Friday, April 27, 2012 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice. There will be a family graveside service at a later date at Sunset Memorial Park.
