Patricia Ann Cazares McLelland

May 27, 1963November 30, 2019

God called and invited Patricia (Patty) to come join her husband, Rick McLelland in heaven. Patty accepted the invitation and departed this world on Friday the 29th of November 2019. She also went to be with her mother, Margarita Cazares who also went to heaven earlier this year. She left behind her adopted son, Andre McLelland and her father, Alfred Flores Cazares; three sisters; Linda Cazares, Christina Autrey, and Melissa Beeson and two brothers; Alfred Rey and Robert Cazares. She also left behind her in-laws, Richard and Sarah McLelland, as well as a number of cousins, nephews and one niece. The number of friends she left behind are too numerous to mention.

Patty was born in Kialua, Oahu, Hawaii near Kaneohe Air Station, the base where her father was stationed at the time. She grew up in a number of cities, from California to Texas to North Carolina since the family moved to wherever her father was ordered, except Vietnam. After completing High School at Camp Lejeune, N.C., Patty attended Texas State University in San Marcos, where she earned her degree in Elementary Education. She taught school in a number of places in Texas for over thirty years. She met her husband Rick while teaching in Dilley Elementary School. After marrying Rick, she moved to Taylor, Texas to continue teaching until her husband passed away. She excelled in teaching and had many innovative approaches in making her students want to learn more of whatever was on the curriculum. Her final teaching assignment before retiring was back in Dilley, the place where she was teaching when she first met Rick.

It was her wish to be cremated with some of her ashes to be spread over Rick’s grave in Hutto, Texas and some to be place in the Columbarium at Saint Michael’s Catholic Church with her mother’s ashes. Her wish will be honored.

Prayers for the family! Patty was a fighter! She doesn’t have to fight any longer! I love the picture you chose for her obituary. What an amazing smile she had! May God’s peace carry each of you through this difficult time as you trust Him daily to do so.😊
