She was born the third and youngest daughter of Henry and Hortense Adeline Batot.
She attended St. Joseph's Academy and graduated from Providence High School in 1955. She went on to attend Our Lady of the Lake College, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Education. When the University of Texas at San Antonio opened, she attended night and summer classes for two years to earn a Master's Degree in Bicultural/Bilingual Education. Later, she again attended Our Lady of the Lake to obtain certification in Supervision and Mid-Management.
Patricia worked in Education for twenty-seven years as a teacher, teacher trainer, and supervisor of teachers & curriculum specialist for the San Antonio Independent School District. After retirement, she worked as a consultant for Scholastic Publishing Company for three years.
She married Jacob Caldwell Biry on August 13, 1960, in San Antonio, TX, and was blessed with four daughters.
Patricia was a woman of deep Catholic faith. She was a founding member of the Church of the Holy Spirit. She served as lector, minister of the Eucharist, and teacher of Religious Education.
She was an accomplished seamstress. She would spend many hours at her sewing machine creating custom clothing for herself and her daughters. They were all fortunate to have her help bring their wedding dress visions to life with her expertise. Later in life, she joined the sewing guild at St. Gregory's Catholic Church.
Most importantly, she was passionate about her Alsatian Heritage and passionate about sharing that heritage with others. She was a founding and lifetime member of the Castro Colonies Heritage Association (CCHA) and served on the steering committee for bringing the CCHA Living History Museum to fruition. In addition to her involvement with CCHA, she was a member of the Castroville Conservation Society, frequently volunteering for their Annual Candlelight Home Tours, and was a member of the Quihi Settlers Chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Albert Batot and Hortense Adeline Schmidt; her husband of 39 years, Jacob Caldwell Biry; her sister, Peggy Anne Matcek; and her great grandson Nicholas Raymond Riecken. She is survived by her daughters and spouses: Dr. Lisa M. and Michael Glenn of Austin, TX; Mary Anne and Bradley Votion; and Karen and Lt. Col. (Ret.) Richard Fuentes, USAF of Valrico, FL, and Katherine and Ted Slansky; thirteen grandchildren - Maura Elisabeth Michinock (Miles), Rachel Marie Glenn (JP Gunn), Jacob Matthew Glenn (Dr. Mallory), Kristen Nicole Nammour (Daniel), Allison Leigh Dietzmann (Barry Horton), Kellie Michelle Votion, Anamarie Biry Votion, Jacqueline Christine Riecken (Kurt), David Biry Fuentes, Andrew Robert Fuentes, SrA Nathan Henry Fuentes, USAF, Joseph Anthony Slansky, Payton Caldwell Slansky; nine great grandchildren -Thorsen Issak Michinock, Blaise Caldwell Michinock, Josephine Grace Michinock, John Michael Gunn, Calvin Lawrence Glenn, August Amine Nammour, Johanna Chieko Riecken, Lena Louise Riecken, Henry Biry Fuentes; and sister, Yvonne Marie Buckley.
