Patricia Dianne Cooper, age 70, passed away on March 28, 2026, in San Antonio, Texas. A woman known for her friendliness, kindness, and dedication to others, she leaves behind a legacy of service, devotion, and love. It was often said that she never knew a stranger.
Patricia was born on September 28, 1955, in Tampa, Florida, to Maylan and Rhoda Skoglund. She was raised in Windcrest, Texas, and was a 1974 graduate of Roosevelt High School, where she was on the swim team.
In 1993, Patricia married the love of her life, Ed Cooper, and together they raised their daughter and built a life centered on family and community. Throughout her professional life, Patricia excelled in customer relations, but her most cherished role was working at the front desk of the lodging facility at Fort Sam Houston’s Brooke Army Medical Center. There, she provided a welcoming and supportive environment for the families of wounded servicemembers, a position that reflected her deep empathy for others.
Beyond her professional life, Patricia was an avid creator who found great joy in arts and crafts. She particularly enjoyed participating in the Windcrest Light Up, with her elaborate Christmas yard displays, and she was skilled in crochet, quilting, and other needle arts. Her family and friends will always remember her as a truly gifted cook and a person of remarkable warmth.
For the past twenty years, Patricia and Ed lived in Floresville, Texas, where Patricia enjoyed caring for her horses and her wildlife, especially her deer.
Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, Maylan and Rhoda Skoglund, and her brother, Robert Skoglund.
She leaves behind her loving husband, Ed Cooper; her daughter, Katherine Burr; and her honorary grandchildren, Spencer, Franchesca, and Trevor Bertrand. She also leaves behind her brothers, David Skoglund and Jerry Skoglund; her sister, Pam Skoglund; her cousin, Nikki Gladd, who was like a sister to her; and her best friend, Debi Brown, along with many other beloved family members and friends who will miss her dearly.
A visitation and reception will be held at Sunset Funeral Home on Austin Highway, San Antonio, on 28 May 2026 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, followed by an interment ceremony at 1:30 PM at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
