

Patricia Yonge Fooshee, age 96, passed away on Tuesday, August 26, 2025 at her home in San Antonio, Texas. She was born September 1, 1928 in Abilene, Texas to her parents, Jack R. and Lois Shackelford Yonge.
After a childhood in Abilene on Walnut Street and attending Abilene High where she served as Drum Majorette and Cheerleader, she attended Texas Women’s College (now Texas Women’s University), University of Texas at Austin, and University of Houston.
Patricia met her husband J.B. Fooshee at the University of Texas when he had returned from World War II. They were married in 1947. The couple lived in Abilene until 2000 raising their three daughters there and actively participating in community affairs.
Patricia served on the board of directors of Abilene Art Museum, Abilene Community Theater, Hospice of Abilene, and was president of the Junior League of Abilene in 1961-1962, and president of the Artist League. She was a recipient of the Pathfinders Award.
Her greatest love was in serving the Lord. In Abilene, she was active at the Episcopal Church of the Heavenly Rest as Sunday school teacher, youth group leader, and Lay Eucharistic Minister. In the diocese of Northwest Texas she served on the Commission for Ministry and Mission and the Task Force for Evangelism and Renewal. With her husband, she was on many Faith Alive teams and several Cursillo staffs. They also worked in the soup kitchen at Antioch Methodist Church in Abilene.
Highlights for Patricia were teaching Vacation Bible School on the Navajo reservation at Good Shepherd Mission near Fort Defiance, AZ in the summer of 1963, as well as time at San Juan Mission in Farmington, NM in 1967 and 1968. She accompanied her husband to distribute food in the mountains of Honduras following a volcanic eruption that destroyed the villagers’ fields in the 80s, and they did church planting in Russia in 1992 and 1993.
She enjoyed painting for 35 years and attended various artist workshops in Italy, Mexico, New Mexico and Texas. She had gallery showings in Soho, NY, Santa Fe and Taos, NM, and San Antonio and Abilene, TX.
Patricia loved fly fishing with J.B. in Argentina, Wyoming, Colorado, and New Mexico, where they had a summer home in Taos. They spent many happy years traveling in Europe.
When the Fooshees moved to San Antonio in 2000, they attended Christ Episcopal Church. Together, they volunteered at Christ Healing Center for several years and were members of the Order of Saint Luke. Patricia served on the Friends of Hospice Board of Directors 2012 through 2015. She was a member of the San Antonio Gardenia Fine Arts Club.
J.B. died in 2010, after 63 years of marriage. Her brothers, George Yonge of Austin and Jack Yonge of Brownsville also preceded her in death.
Patricia is survived by her precious daughters and their special husbands. Lois and Z Brabec of Geneva, Switzerland; Beth and Mark Eubank of Kerrville, Texas; and Sallie and John T. Newman of San Antonio, Texas. She has wonderful grandchildren and great grandchildren: Tucker Brabec and his wife Mariana Miranda Andres and their children Miranda, Catalina and Patrick of Genolier, Switzerland; Philip Brabec and his wife Celine and their children Jacques and Thibaud of Genolier, Switzerland; Benjamin Eubank and his fiancé Katie of Alpine, Texas and his children, Judah and Kohen of Columbus, Georgia and Alpine, Texas; Emily Eubank DeZarn and her husband Ken of Kerrville, Texas; Elizabeth Eubank of Kerrville, Texas; Jack Newman of Dallas, Texas; Julia Newman Butler and her husband Cody with their son Brooks of Dallas, Texas.
The family would especially like to honor and thank the faithful caregivers during her last years of her life: Blanca, Sally, Allison, Minnie, Ricka, Viviana and Nae.
A Memorial Service will take place on Tuesday, September 16, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Christ Episcopal Church, 510 Belknap Pl, San Antonio, Texas 78212. The Rev. Scott Kitayama will officiate.
