

Patricia Louise Ridge Herczeg of San Antonio, Texas passed peacefully into the arms of her Savior Jesus Christ on May 20, 2016. Patricia was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. A native of Battle Creek, Michigan, Patricia lived in many other states before settling in San Antonio in 2002.
Patricia was born July 9, 1939 in Battle Creek, Michigan, the youngest of two daughters. She was a graduate of Lakeview High School in Battle Creek. She received her Bachelors of Science in Nursing in 1960 at Borgess School of Nursing in Kalamazoo, Michigan. She dedicated her career to caring for new mothers and infants as a nurse in the obstetrics department of hospitals in which she worked.
She married Joseph J. Herczeg in May, 1960. Patricia and Joseph spent much of their married life in California, Colorado and Texas. Two children were born to Patricia and Joseph Sherry Herczeg Dorsey, of Phoenix, Arizona and Joseph C. Herczeg of San Antonio.
Patricia greatly enjoyed the outdoors, and was an avid gardener throughout her life. She enjoyed camping, traveling and baking. Her specialty was creating intricately decorated cakes for friends and family. Many people admired her creativity and craftiness.
A faithful believer in her Savior, Patricia shared her love of Christ openly with others. She would frequently end telephone conversations with a heartfelt "God bless you." Tremendously patient and compassionate, Patricia was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchild brought her much joy later in life.
She was preceded in death by her parents Carl M. Ridge and Virginia L. Gould Ridge, and sister Shirley Ellis. Patricia is survived by her former husband Joseph J. Herczeg, daughter Sherry (Al) Dorsey, son Joe (Deb) Herczeg, grandsons Kyle (Dezi) Dorsey, Jared Dorsey and Gavin Herczeg, and great-granddaughter Hope Dorsey.
A memorial service celebrating her life will be held on July 9, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Concordia Lutheran Church, 16801 Huebner Road, San Antonio. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the National Alliance on Mental Illness, 510 Belknap Place, San Antonio, TX 78212.
