Patricia was married to Mac Clinton Norwood for almost 67 years until his death in 2014. She is survived by their four children: Lee Norwood, Susan Norwood, Robyn Baham, and Sara Hurley. She is also survived by four grandchildren.
She was born in Wichita Falls, Texas, on May 4, 1922, to William Emmett McCarthy and Opal Boggs McCarthy. After earning a bachelor’s degree from Texas Woman’s University, she worked in administrative services for the oil industry. Following her marriage, she devoted herself to child rearing for twenty years. Her family was her greatest passion. After her children were young adults, she and Mac began a successful oilfield service company which they operated until their retirement.
Patricia’s many interests included American and early Texas history, American folk crafts, and Native American rugs and pottery. She and Mac combined their deep love of travel, history, and genealogy by traveling across the United States and Canada in search of family history and personal connections.
Her love of history perhaps most distinguished Patricia throughout her life. Her family remembers her wealth of knowledge and anecdotes about ancestors in our family tree, and she could captivate an audience for hours with her stories.
As a lifelong Presbyterian, Patricia found her private Bible study a source of comfort and contemplation and enjoyed being a part of the church community wherever she lived.
