

Patricia Ann Raney, 75, of San Antonio, passed away suddenly on July 14, 2025. A dedicated educator and lifelong learner, Patricia spent more than 40 years teaching, first in San Antonio ISD and later with the Department of Defense Overseas Schools in Japan and Germany. She inspired generations of students with her intellect, warmth, and deep belief in the power of education.
A proud San Antonian, Patricia was a longtime member of MacArthur Park Lutheran Church and was an active member of Beta Tau Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma. She was deeply loved by a wide circle of close friends and neighbors. She had a passion for books, crafts, puzzles, travel, and Asian art, and was rarely without a cat by her side.
She is survived by her brother, James Raney, and his wife, Sybil; her nephew, Ian Raney; her niece, Emma Cummins (RJ); grandnephew, Austin Cummins; step-niece, Susannah Broyles; step-nephew, David Broyles (Kate); and step-grand nieces and nephew, Claire and Theo Broyles. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bernice and James G. Raney.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on July 29, 2025, at MacArthur Park Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to MacArthur Park Lutheran Church, the San Antonio Public Library, or San Antonio Pets Alive.
