Patricia Ann Skvarka Smith completed her pilgrimage on earth on the morning of Saturday, February 26, 2011 at 12:45 a.m. Patricia was born March 3, 1944 at Bethania Hospital, Wichita Falls, TX to Paul and Dorothy Skvarka and was raised on a farm in Santo, TX. She graduated from Santo High School in 1962 as valedictorian and from Southern Technical University in Ft. Worth in 1963.
She worked in the agricultural and soft drink canning industries while in California and in San Antonio made a career in the household moving industry. She enjoyed working at Lone Star Relocation Services, where she developed long lasting friendships, and retired in late 2010 after almost 20 years.
Trish was a very giving woman as she volunteered at her parish in Long Island and at her children's schools in Atwater and in San Antonio, where she was a room mother. Her giving nature also extended to animals both in her home and through various animal charities.
She had two children, Paul and John. She loved them more than they could know and they in return hope she knows the gratitude they have for that love, and how much they love her in return.
Throughout her struggle with cancer she remained cheerful, positive and selfless. Trish grew closer to the Lord and her faith never wavered. This struggle highlighted all that we loved about Trish.
She will always be with us as she will continue to inspire us with her profound and loving qualities. Thank you God, and Paul and Dorothy, for giving us Trish, a truly special person.
In addition to her sons, Paul and John Rosalyn, Trish is also survived by her loving husband of 25 years Lawrence Luckey; sister and best friend Jean Skvarka; grandchildren Elliott and Vanessa, whom she held very dear and adored; nephews Stanley Paterka Kim and Michael Paterka Lirio, Stanley and Kim's children Hannah, Christian, Malachi, Noah, Keziah, Silas, Samuel and Eden. All were very much loved by her and were with her throughout her illness and her soul's departure from her body.
The family would like to thank the caring staff of Vitas Hospice, and in a most special way Clint Adams and Debbie McBride.
