Patricia Lynn (Kohler) Tindall, wife of John W. Tindall, died on Monday, January 1, 2024 due to complications of the COVID-19 virus. She is survived by her husband, John; daughter Dr. Carly Kay Friedman (Dr. Duncan), and daughter Isabella Louise. She was a loving Nana to Miriam Lee and Samuel Atticus.
Pat was born into a military family in Las Vegas, Nevada, where her father Alfred and mother Iva Lee were assigned. Pat, her parents, and her older sister Kathy lived at various duty stations throughout Texas and Germany. Upon the retirement of Major Kohler the family settled in Boerne, where Pat was a proud member of the Boerne High School Class of 1965. Upon graduating with a Bachelor's degree in Education from Brigham Young University, Pat pursued a Masters of Social Work from the Worden School of Our Lady of the Lake University. After serving her nation as a Veterans Administration Medical Social Worker and following the birth of her daughter Carly, Pat returned to her passion and became an elementary school teacher. Pat taught at various schools in the Border region of Texas before settling down at St. Luke's Episcopal School in San Antonio, where she passed on to her students a passion for reading. While at St. Luke's she met John in 1988. Sharing a fondness for Tom Clancy's novels and Otis Redding's music, Pat and John soon fell in love, marrying in the Chapel of St. Luke's in 1991. After raising Carly and with her retirement from teaching Pat and John enjoyed traveling across America and in the UK. Still, Pat felt she had more love to give and that she was not done being a mother. In 2006 she and John welcomed a second daughter, Isabella, to their family.
Throughout her life, Pat was a caring, kind individual- she was a loving aunt to her nieces Ann and Gay and her nephews Austin and Chris; she doted on her grandchildren Meeks and Sammy; she would volunteer as a social worker for various non-profits when her time allowed. Pat touched the lives of so many, and they in turn have continued her example of love and service to God and Humanity. She will be terribly missed.
Pat will be cremated and a Celebration of Life Ceremony will be at Porter Loring Mortuary McCullough, 1101 McCullough Avenue, San Antonio, Texas 78212, on January 13, 2024, at 10:00 AM. A life-long lover of animals, in lieu of flowers the family is requesting memorial contributions be made to the Animal Defense League of Texas or the charity of your choice.
