Paul Benjamin Keele, Jr. was born on February 13, 1929 in El Dorado, Texas to Paul B. Keele and LaFayette Snell Keele. He married Ellen Fern Coats on July 28, 1950. He passed into glory on October 26, 2019, in San Antonio, Texas.
He is survived by his beloved wife Ellen; brother, Bevard M. Keele, of Houston, Texas; three children, Elicia (David) Webb, of San Antonio, Kevin (Kris) Keele, of Tyler, and Jana (Kyle) Miller, of San Antonio; ten grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; along with many nieces and nephews.
Paul attended Lubbock High School and the University of Texas Pharmacy School, where he received a degree in Pharmacy in June of 1950. He met Ellen in Austin while he was in school, and they married in Seagraves, Texas, after his graduation. They raised three children in Big Spring, Texas. They lived in various places in Texas where he worked for other pharmacists, until he became partners with college friend, Wesley Graham, in Midland, Texas, at Graham’s Pharmacy.
Paul was an elder in Churches of Christ where he and Ellen worshiped, and he also preached at small churches throughout Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico. His summer vacations were frequently spent holding one-to-two-week-long Gospel Meetings at various congregations.
After retirement from the pharmacy, Paul and Ellen traveled some, and then moved to Camp Wood for a while, before settling in San Angelo for close to 25-years. They moved to San Antonio, Texas in 2016; where they became members of Northside Church of Christ.
Paul leaves behind a legacy of service to his Father, to the church, and to many people who were brought to Christ by his teaching. He instilled in his children a love for the scriptures, which he taught them at home from a young age. He also had a sense of adventure, from taking his family water skiing on area lakes, to riding a motorcycle through back roads with his son and sons-in-law. His gentle words, wise counsel, and dry sense of humor will be missed by all who knew him.
The family would like to thank the wonderful caregivers and medical professionals with Tender Touch Hospice, who gave our dad such gentle, kind and dignified care.
