We are gathered here today not to mourn the death of Paul King a man but to 
celebrate the life of Paul King a Husband, Father, Grandfather, 
Great-grandfather, Uncle, Brother, Friend, Neighbor, and Mentor. His memory 
means many different things to each of us. To me, my Grandfather will always 
be one of the wisest men that I have ever met. I refer to him this way not 
because he was educated, world traveled, and knowledgeable beyond my years but 
because he knew what was important in life. It is the Legacy he leaves 
behind. His Family and the relationships he made will have an impact on all 
of us for years to come. See, thirteen years ago he faced death and instead of 
just going quietly, he fought and beat cancer because he knew it was not his 
time, he had more to accomplish. Since then I saw a difference in my 
Grandfather, he lived everyday as if it was his last. He became closer to 
God, exercising his faith daily, and learned more about the world that God 
created for us more than I could ever hope to understand. He also became 
closer to our family, making a point to attend the important events in our 
lives. For instance, I remember him at almost every game up in the stands when 
I was playing baseball. He would stand up there proudly snapping pictures 
with his camera. He always was documenting the events in our lives, freezing 
those moments in time for the future Kings' to view. This is also why he 
studied the past, researching the genealogy of our family for future 
generations to know where they came from. He also became closer to my 
Grandma, a couple of months ago a group of us were out eating dinner and my 
Grandfather said to me "My relationship with your Grandma has never been 
stronger, through all the ups and downs over the years I love her more now 
than the day we got married." The relationship between my grandparents is one 
that couples today should hope to aspire to. A relationship built on mutual 
love, trust, and appreciation. 
My Grandpa was more than just a man to many people, he was a teacher. He 
taught us a great deal of things about being good and true in the world today. 
Just take a look at my uncles and my aunt you can see many of his 
characteristics portrayed in the way they live their lives. Now I am not 
saying they are perfect, I mean I have heard the horror stories of their 
childhood for years. Fortunately each of them has grown up and now have 
families of their own, teaching their children the morals and ethics that 
Grandpa lived out for them daily. By his actions my Grandpa showed all of his 
grandchildren and great grandchildren on how to life to its fullest. 
While his family was always his first priority, my Grandpa was in no way 
without accomplishments. He proudly served in the United States Navy, 
traveled the world countless times, ran marathons, hiked endless state and 
national parks, was an entrepreneur, and over the years did countless volks 
marches. Even after all of these accomplishments he remained grounded in the 
belief that worldly accomplishments mean little unless for the short amount of 
time we are here on earth we try to leave it a better place. He did change 
the world for the better by sharing his wisdom and virtues with all of us. I 
remember many times I would ask my Grandpa for advice on things that happened 
in my life and no matter what the situation or obstacle he always seemed to 
know how to display it from a different point of view so that it didn't seem 
so big and this helped me to overcome my problem. For these reasons and for 
many more I love him and will miss him everyday. 
I will always refer to my Grandpa as one of the wisest men I have ever met. 
Now I ask all of you today not to mourn the death of Paul King, for he is not 
truly dead. He will always be with us in our hearts and in our minds. We can 
honor him by continuing his legacy by teaching his virtues to our children and 
show them too what is important in life. Our Children will pass this on to 
their children and they will pass it on to their children and so on into the 
future. So as long as we continue to pass on the ideas my Grandfather held 
important in his life he will never die and the Greatness of this man will 
live on for an eternity.

My Grandfather, next to my father, is the greatest man that I have ever known. Now I know that a lot of people say that about a lot of people that they are close to especially when they die but the difference is, is that I do not say things simply because it looked good in some movie that I saw or that I read in some book somewhere. I say things because they come from my heart and my heart tells no lies. What I am about to tell you comes from my heart. 
You know when they tell you in church that you should live your life like a saint and then you realize what a saints life is like and then you realize that there is no way in the world that you could ever live up to that expectation the next person that I turned to was my Granddad. I wanted to, I want to live my life like he did. My wife told me that she thought that Granddad lived his life for his family and I agree. His family was his life. His family was his accomplishment. His family is his legacy. His family is the reason that he will get into heaven because he molded his family into a family of Christ. 
I cannot help but notice how much his faith meant to him. When you are in his house in his office and in his rooms, you see all these different books about God and Catholicism and you know that it?s not for show. You know that he truly read all of those books and you know that he took much of what he learned to heart, especially the ones that look so worn. I ask my self how many books do I have about God and Jesus and Catholicism that still look like they belong in a bookstore? Too many that?s how many. My bible barely looks like I open it and that?s sad. Granddad?s faith was his life. His faith was his reason for everything that he did. His faith is what he lived everyday that he was alive. Granddad is one of those rare people who never had to tell you that he was Christian, he lived it and that?s how you knew. I hope that I can live my life like my Granddad. 
Granddad was the kind of man who whenever you talked to him he made you feel like you were teaching him rather than the other way around. He was the man that never missed anything of mine that I ever asked him to go to or help with and never once did he ever make me feel like it was an imposition to him, but more like it was the highlight of his week. How rare is that? How rare is it to find such genuine goodness in someone and now we have to give him back to God? 
I think that that is what Granddad was put here on earth to do. I think that was his purpose, at least for myself. He was put here so that I might realize that it is possible to live the life of Christ in the modern world. He taught me it is possible to live your life with the courage of your convictions for Christ and all that that stands for and to teach that to your children and help them understand that everyday they are here on earth is a day that they are here to serve God and that one day you, like Granddad, will be sitting around wondering what heaven is like and then a few hours later you will have every answer to every question that you ever had answered for you when you see the face of God and in that moment you know that you did well because you lived your life like Granddad, you lived your life like Christ. That is why Granddad was put here for me. He was put here so that I can learn from him how to teach my children how to live like Christ today so that they may see Christ when tomorrow comes. 
Granddad loved my children and my wife without hesitation. He never made my wife feel like she was an in law. He made her feel like his granddaughter from the very beginning. My wife has loved Granddad ever since she met him and she will miss him dearly too. I thank God that my children had the chance to know him and to love him. My Clarissa loved her Granddad very much and that makes me happy. Children have a gift that we lose as adults and that is the gift to tell goodness without ever having to have someone open their mouth and my children loved their Granddad very much. He was one of the greatest men I ever knew. He was my Granddad and I am going to miss him more than I could ever let you know.

To Mrs. King and the Paul H. King Family, I am sorry for your unanticipated loss of Mr. King. My family and I have been praying for the repose of Mr. King's soul and for each of you during this very difficult time. Unfortunately, I didn't know Mr. King very well; however, I do know Michael and his family. One of the most telling signs of a great Christian man is his commitment to his faith, his marriage, and how he loves his wife and children. All Children, especially sons, learn by watching how their father acts in each of these things. Based on my knowledge of Michael and his love for and commitment to his faith, his wife, Gaby and his children, Paul succeeded in sanctifying his life, living an exemplary life and accomplishing God's will for his life. I know you each will miss him very much. The beauty of Mr. King's human death is that his spirit can expand not being limited to the size of the human body and touch each of you even closer the rest of your lives. May God the Holy Spirit bless you, comfort you, and guide you to an even closer life with Him. May God the Son have mercy on Mr. King's soul and have St. Peter open the pearly gates of Heaven wide for his soul. May God the Father's will become each of your will even more intensely for the rest of your lives. I know Paul was thought of as a silent giant and a pious man. Begin asking for his intercession in your lives to help you. Our hope is that he is enjoying the splendor of Heaven next to Jesus and Sts. Mary and Joseph. In his being a part of the communion of saints, he can be more effective than ever to help you now. Our family will keep you, Mrs. King and your family in our prayers. I have always enjoyed receivcing e-mail from Paul. I am a cousin from Marietta, Georgia. My Mom was kin to Paul. I will see him in Heaven.

My dad taught me so much about love and faith. It was his steady influence that motivated me to push beyond my fears, to live my faith, be open to life, be a good friend & father and to love my wife above all else on earth. Paul and Jeanne have been members of our Marriage Encounter share group for many years. Many times we have heard Paul share his great devotion to the Lord and to his wonderful wife, Jeanne. He shared their faith journey with great sincerety openness, so charactistic of him as a faithfilled man. We will miss him greatly.

Your father lived a faithful and active life. The valor of his spirit is evidenced by the lives his children lead. Cry for the sadness of losing his companionship but know that his life is honored by the lives of his children. All our love,

Many years had gone by and due to distance I was not able to see my Uncle Paul but the past few years since I had moved to Texas I have been able to visit with him a number of times down in San Antonio and I was happy that my new husband Mike met him. He made Mike feel like part of the family from the start. Our visits where short but very meaningful and memories I can keep close to my heart. He will be remembered as a quiet, gentle man and I will always picture him with a smile on his face for that is how he was the last I saw him. The family was gathered for their annual King family group pictures. 
My love and prayers go out to my cousins Chris, Steve, Gina, Phillip, Matt and Michael and to you Aunt Jeanne. There is no way to prepare for a loss but I hope knowing that you have many friends and family who are there for you will make a difference. Love you all........
