😇🎚️😇 Dearest family and beloved friends, my son Pauly aka Paul James Perez Quichocho will be interred (in-ground) at the Sunset Funeral Park cemetery’s “Prosperity Garden” on Friday, 7/18 at 2pm.  Out of pure love & support for his daughters, the burial ceremony will be attended only by immediate family members.  This is the nightmare that none of us will ever awaken from! It is a void inadequate of words or description! 💔😰💔
🎚️ However, this final act (burial) will fulfill our Catholic obligation for my Pauly’s Temple- sanctified in Holy Baptism by the Holy Spirit, …a blessed Temple, which was the earthly abode for his soul, that will be laid to rest in sacred ground.  Father Carlos Velazquez, pastor of the San Fernando Cathedral will conduct the sacred Catholic requiem. 🕯️🎚️🕯️

🛐 O, Jesus, Who was crowned with thorns, suffered and died on the Cross, please lead my son, Paul to the eternal happiness of Your Kingdom in Heaven. Amen 🕯️🎚️🕯️

I want to start by saying thank you to Paul. I’m so grateful to God that I had the chance to know the man who gave me my two best friends.
I’ll always appreciate the daily—sometimes multiple—calls you made just to check in on them. Thank you for checking on me too, and for making me feel like a true part of your beautiful family.
The last time I heard your voice, we were laughing on the phone—and I can’t tell you how much I wish that call never had to end.
Your love lives on in your girls, in every good and beautiful way you were. They’re selfless, so strong and funny, and full of joy—just like you.
I remember the first time I ever had Korean BBQ—it was with you and Ahna. I felt so honored to be invited to a father-daughter lunch date. That moment, like so many others, is etched in my heart.
Ahna and Myla are my soul sisters. I promise you, Paul, I will always take care of them. I’ll remind them to keep loving as you did—to keep passing it forward. I’ll remind them that we were made to love, to connect, to care.

I’ve come to learn that grief is just the love we carry, distorted by pain. And while pain demands to be felt, it’s also deeply important to find our way back to the warmth underneath it all.
It’s both a blessing and a heartbreak to love something that death can touch. But the memories we hold—the laughter, the tenderness, the moments of presence—become sacred testaments to the love we were lucky enough to feel.
So stay tender. Keep your heart open. Don’t shy away from honoring each moment, each soul who comes into your life.
If your heart feels heavy today, it’s only because it’s full. And that fullness is proof of love.

Just wanted to share a memory about Paul. I have known the Quichocho family since 1983. His sister Ginger is my best friend and my sister by heart. Paul has always been there for us growing up in our teen years. When Ginger and the rest of us girlfriends got into trouble, he would always find a way to get us out of trouble, especially Ginger. One time, Ginger didn't get home on time after school. Well she was hanging out with all of us girls. It got so late she did not want to go home because she knew she was in trouble. Ginger called her brother Paul and asked him to smooth things over with mom and dad because they were livid. Paul made sure his baby sister was safe and then ended up picking her up later on. She still got in trouble, however as long as Paul was involved it made it better.  Since he was the oldest and the responsible one, he had a way of keeping things calm and collective. He always had Ginger’s back and she could count on him for anything. Their bond as brother and sister was unconditional love. We all loved Paul so much. I know he is crackin up in heaven listening to all these amazing memories we are all sharing. Rest easy brother Paul 420

I only had the privilege of meeting Paul a few times, but even in those brief moments, he left a lasting impression. He was always warm and welcoming, with a great smile that could light up a room. When my husband Tom and I went on vacation to Texas, we felt an immediate connection with Paul. He had a way of making you feel like an old friend, even if you had just met.

He was genuine, kind, and seemed to be friends with everyone. Though our time together was short, I’m grateful to have known him.

We send our heartfelt condolences to the family. You are in our thoughts during this difficult time.

This is how I felt towards Paul and I can cite just three occasions where this stands out. But first, I remember getting acquainted with Paul in junior high at Green Valley though we ran in very different social circles, we would play sports like football or softball at lunch recess. On to Armijo and he is in my third period Spanish class with another larger than life character, Gale Lawton. It was our teacher, Mr. O'Brien, first year teaching at Armijo and here he was against a tag team of character with these two. But their parlay was always clean, no foul language or disrespect shown. Though they were quite humorous at times and Mr. O'Brien would weave some of those things into a lesson. But to me personally, I can cite three occasions. 1) He liked that I was born on Guam and I had also lived there for two and a half years. Most people don't know where Guam is much less anything about it. 2) I was in R.O.T.C. and we had to wear the uniform to school every Tuesday. Some of the kids would laugh at me and the uniform and that didn't sit well with Paul. He would politely tell them to shut their mouths and stop disrespecting the uniform and what it stood for. And finally 3) Similar to number two but on a bit different level. I played football for our school my sophomore year and that drew a bunch of ridicule from our peers as well and some very cruel remarks. Again, he would tell those ones to shut their mouths, and as I pointed out earlier, we were never in the same social circles. He was by far more popular than I ever was, if ever. Being the only girl player brought its share of supporters and critics, but Paul was aware of what I could do as an athlete that show of support was enough to keep me going. So as you can tell, Paul was very much loved andjust knowing him the way I did, I consider myself fortunate.

I wanted to share with you a sign that I received when I found out about Paul. As I mentioned, Huck drove to Downieville where I was staying for work to break the news to me. We were supposed to go to one of two restaurants that are open this time of year in that tiny town. It ended up being closed so we had to go the other one. We sat down and decided to all get a drink and toast to Paul. As we lifted our beer glasses - three of the four were clear and one had something on it….
I kid you not..  and of course, I started crying all over again but knew it was a sign that he was still with us  
The owner of the restaurant let me take the glass and said it was definitely meant to be as it was the only glass of its kind that they had. He had no idea what was happening until after we had toasted and I was crying, and my colleague told him - it gave us all chills. But definitely something Paul would do.

My Big Bro Paul! My first best friend and family Guardian! THE MOST BRILLIANT and INTELLIGENT PERSON I'VE EVER KNOWN!

Paul's quick witt and humor always had people around him laughing. From the first  moment anyone spent time with him, they'd forget their worries.

He was always very proud of his heritage and culture. He lived a very modest life, he wasn't flashy or extravagant. He was happy with the simple things in life. Nothing really got him upset, unless you were driving like a idiot!  

At a young age he was always protective of his family. His two daughters, (Ahna & Myla) were his world, his sole purpose and his true love's. He dote'd over them both and was always extremely proud of them and their accomplishments.

He was always the first one to check in on our parents, to make sure they were OK.

My Big Bro, you will be missed but never forgotten! The laughs you leave behind will echo within all of us until our very end.

💞 Polly and I were so very young when we married on April 22, 1967—she had just turned 18, and I was 20. From the very start, we dreamed of building a family. Within three months of our wedding, Polly shared the joyful news that she was expecting. We were thrilled—praying earnestly for a healthy baby, ready to welcome whichever gender God had chosen for us.

🤱🏻Then, precisely nine months to the day—on January 22, 1968, just three days before Polly’s 19th birthday—our firstborn arrived. In keeping with the Catholic tradition passed down from Polly’s mother, he was named after the saint honored on that day - The Conversion of St. Paul!”

👨🏻‍🍼 From the moment I held him, I was filled with a joy beyond words. I’ve always loved babies, but to have one of my own—this child of ours, truly Heaven-sent—was an overwhelming blessing. Polly and I gave thanks to God, our Father, for entrusting us with the privilege of raising Paul, guiding him to love and serve the Lord, and to live a life that glorified Him.

🕯️ As we look back on Paul’s life, we are humbled and moved by the many beautiful words shared about him. Each one a testament to the light of Christ he carried within him—shining into the lives of everyone he met. What greater legacy could there be?

❤️‍🩹 Thank you, all, for sharing your stories, that have been a source of comfort to us, as we struggle to cope with the void 💔 and immense grief!

It’s hard to put into words the depth of pain I feel knowing my brother is gone. It’s a sorrow that sits heavy in my heart, a wound that time can’t seem to reach. 

The world feels dimmer without his laughter, his presence, his love. Every moment reminds me of what I’ve lost, and the ache of missing him is constant. 

He wasn’t just my brother, he was a part of my soul, my history, my heart. Life will never feel the same without him here.

Paul was late meeting me for breakfast at Huckleberry Restaurant. He was in Sacramento visiting another classmate. I blasted him out on Facebook lol he made it finally. We had a great time catching up. I will miss you very much Paul🙏🏼 if it wasn't for you  my children would have never experienced water rafting. We missed each other by 1 hour because my kids woke up late. I was right behind your group the day you went water rafting at the Sacramento River with your daughters.

Everyone got together when Paul was visiting from Texas❤️

Paul always made sure we got to our classes safely. He would even carry our books for us❤️

This was the first time, in a long time, that I had seen Paul.  We met back up in San Antonio with my sister and my family.  It was so neat getting to see him again.  This was almost 10 years ago.  Such a great memory!  Paul was an amazing friend, and I will always love him for that!   I will always love and miss him!!

I’m heartbroken and beyond devastated. I don’t even have the perfect words to express how I feel.  Paul came into my life during a difficult time and quickly became someone I could lean on.  I will forever miss his love, strength, intelligence and sense of humor.  He was always singing and dancing and that is how I will remember him. 

Thank you for everything you did for me and my family.

"When Paul was born, they broke the mould."
Paul and I worked together at USAA for several years, sometimes on the same team.  When I was transferred to Schwab in 2020, I always figured that Paul would be coming over to Schwab eventually, as well.  We used to go out to lunches together and take breaks together from time to time.  When I first started a backyard garden, Paul tried to convince me to grow GHOST PEPPERS!  I can barely tolerate jalapenos, so that was a "no go" for me, but certainly respected his ability to eat such hot peppers!
When I was doing a Professional Rotation stint in Colorado Springs, he and his daughters Ahna and Myla would come over and care for my dog Spencer part of that time.
While we might not have seen eye-to-eye on political issues, I always deeply admired and respected Paul.  He was not just smart, but he was FUN!  He had a great sense of humor, and I always knew it was Paul talking when I heard, "Hey, Dude" or Yeah, Bro" or "Yeah, Man"!  Even though we hadn't seen each other in a few years, we talked via FB.  I will miss him terribly and am heartbroken for his daughters, his parents, brother and sister, and his extended family.

I am very sorry to hear of Paul's passing.  When I was at USAA, he was on my team a few times over the years. He was great with clients and had a strong work ethic.  He was also a good friend to have a coffee with around the water cooler. I enjoyed our conversations over the years and I am saddened to hear of his passing.

Dear Quichocho family.  I am heartbroken for your loss and ours.  Paul was am amazing person, friend and co-worker to me.  I first met Paul through St. Rose De Lima volleyball and softball.  He was so involved and was always right there to lend a hand.  He cherished his beautiful Ahna and Myla.  It was clear that he was their biggest fan.  He was always cheering them on in everything they did.  Come to find out that we both worked in Life Co. USAA.  I will treasure our last conversation with each other in AZ.
To Ahna and Myla, I hope all of the memories of your father's unwavering love and support help strengthen you and sustain you throughout your lives.  May his memory always be a blessing.
