

Paul J. Tillman died on Wednesday, June 15, 2011, in San Antonio. Paul was born September 8, 1939 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida to Paul Valjean and Dorothy Kelty Tillman. Paul attended public schools in Fort Lauderdale until moving in 1955 to Jetmore, Kansas where he finished high school in 1957. Upon graduation from high school he returned to Fort Lauderdale to work for his uncle's wholesale confectionary. After two years he volunteered for the draft and entered in the U.S. Army. After his active Army service he began studies at Florida State University where he met the love of his life, Christine Elizabeth Pfannenbecker, who he married on December 22, 1963 at Trinity Episcopal Church in Saint Augustine, Florida. Paul received both a bachelor's degree in economics and a master's degree in accounting from Florida State University. He also received his CPA certificate while in graduate school at FSU. Paul worked for the Comptroller of the Currency as a National Bank Examiner before accepting employment with Ernst and Ernst now Ernst and Young in San Antonio. The couple moved to San Antonio in 1967. He was with Ernst and Young for 18 years, nine of which were as a partner, during which time he supervised the San Antonio region's services to financial institutions. After leaving Ernst and Young in 1985 he was involved in banking, general aviation, real estate investments and the practice of public accounting. Paul was a private pilot, holding multi-engine and instrument ratings. Paul was a member of Saint Luke's Episcopal Church since 1967, where he had served in the past Treasurer and as a member of the vestry, as well as Treasurer and member of the board of Saint Luke's Episcopal School. Paul is survived by his wife of 47 years, Christine Pfannenbecker Tillman; his son, John Paul Tillman of San Antonio; daughter, Celeste Marie Tillman of Austin, and daughter, Claire Elizabeth McAllister Mr. Benjamin H. of Abu Dhabi, UAE; grandchildren, Cameron Belle, Reese Elizabeth and Benjamin Pierce McAllister all of Abu Dhabi; brothers, Roger Lee Tillman of Keystone Heights, Florida and David Ray Tillman of Fort Lauderdale; nephew, Kyle Tillman; and nieces, Tammy and Docia Tillman all of Fort Lauderdale; and aunts, Wanda Kelty Auten of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Marie Kelty of Stillwater, Oklahoma.
