Paul A. Wolf, Jr., age 67, unexpectedly passed away on Tuesday, July 27, 2021 in San Antonio, Texas. He was born June 2, 1954 in St. Louis, Missouri and was the only son of Paul Anthony Wolf and Jeanne Marie Lennemann. Paul has three older sisters, Christine, Kathleen, and Suzanne.
Paul attended McBride High School in St. Louis for three years before the school shut down. He finished his senior year at St. Marys High School, graduating in 1972. Upon graduation, Paul attended University of Missouri-St. Louis where he pursued a degree in Criminology & Criminal Justice. After completing three years at UMSL, Paul realized he had a passion of wanting to own his own business. He began working for a local foundation repair business, the original Perma Jack in St. Louis. In 1981, he moved to San Antonio to open Perma Jack San Antonio, where he built a successful career and devoted 40 years of his life. He was a highly respected individual in the engineering, foundation, and contracting industry and was the President of the NFRA (National Foundation Repair Association) for four years, serving his final year as President in 2015.
Back in St. Louis in 1978, Paul met Sheryl Seymour his future wife, and the love of his life. Paul always said, "From the moment I saw her, I knew I was going to marry her. I knew she was going to be my wife." Paul and Sheryl were wed in 1985 in San Antonio, Texas. They had two children, Kyle Anthony Wolf in 1994, and Paige Adele Wolf in 1996. Paul and Sheryl celebrated their 36th wedding anniversary back in March and were together for a total of 43 years an exemplary marriage of mutual support, dedication, devotion, and true love.
Paul had an avid love for cars, specifically Corvettes. At 17 years old in 1971, after saving up money from delivering newspapers and working on the river barge, he bought a blue 1964 Corvette for only $900. After many decades of it sitting in the garage, in 2008, Paul decided to restore "Baby Blue." The car was not completed until 2011. But Pauls ever-growing love for cars didnt stop there. In 2010, he purchased a 1959 Corvette and began the restoration process, which took five years. Since then, the 64 and 59 Vettes have won countless awards, many of them being National Builders Choice Awards and numerous first place trophies at distinguishable car shows including Goodguys(tm), Cruisin The Coast(r), Keels & Wheels, The Rolling Sculpture Car Show, Corvette Invasion, Wings & Wheels, and many more. After a few years on the road and becoming recognized at these car shows, the 1964 Corvette was on the cover of Vette magazine with a five-page spread in the December 2014 issue. The 1959 Corvette also received national recognition in Goodguys Goodtimes Gazette June 2018 issue and was also featured in Vette magazine in the November 2018 issue. As a 65th birthday present to himself, Paul purchased a 1960 Chevrolet Bel Air Impala. Although only having it for two short years, he enjoyed the time he had with it, driving it throughout San Antonio and the Texas Hill Country.
In between spending time working on and driving his classic cars, Paul was a big family-man. Spending time with his wife and children was always a priority for him. Whether that was a simple Sunday family dinner watching Family Feud or Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, or going on vacations. We all loved to travel as a family; Italy being our most recent adventure back in May 2019. It was truly the trip of a lifetime. A family as close as ours is a rare thing these days, and he took great pride in the fact that we were one of those families.
Paul was always the man that would, and actually enjoyed, going up and talking to anybody and everybody. He could start a conversation with anyone! He loved to be around people. You could always count on Paul to be the life of the party. He knew how to enjoy life and knew that even the smallest experiences in life are the moments that add up to create the overall experience of an amazing and fulfilling life. In addition to his social personality, Paul was also a man who could calm the waters of any situation and bring a logical and reasonable solution to the table. He gave the best advice, and numerous people would come to him for guidance. And as if there couldnt be any more great qualities in a person, Paul was also a good and honest man. His morals and values spoke for themselves and for anyone who knew Paul, knew this about him. He impacted the lives of many, and he will certainly never be forgotten. Although no longer physically on this earth, he will always reside in our hearts.
Paul was preceded in death by both his parents. Paul is survived by his wife, Sheryl; children, Kyle and Paige; sisters, Christine Soland and husband Arne, Kathleen Healy, and Suzanne Wolf; and nephew, Nathan Soland; as well as a lifetime of friends and clients in San Antonio and surrounding areas, and in St. Louis.
