Paul Edward Zavala, age 58, passed away on Tuesday, June 7, 2022, in San Antonio, Texas. He was born on July 7, 1963 in San Antonio, Texas to Pablo and Olivia Gonzalez Zavala. Paul proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1981 to 1985. He graduated boot camp from Twenty Nine Palms, California, served at Camp Lejune and Okinawa, Japan. While in the Marine Corps, his education was in Basic Electronics, Radar Fundamentals and Ground Radio Repair. He received a Rifle Marksman Badge, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, and a Good Conduct Medal. After the Marine Corps, he worked at the family landscape nursery and was a member of the Reserves for four years, attended San Antonio College with a degree in Criminal Studies. In 1994, he joined the San Antonio Police Department to serve his city. During his 28 years, he has received multiple Notice of Merit awards, Certificate of Services, and many letters of appreciation from the public. He retired from San Antonio Police Department on May 9, 2022. In April 2015, he graduated from Baptist University of the Americas with a Bachelor of Arts in Biblical/Theological Studies, receiving an outstanding scholastic work certificate. He attended Cornerstone Christian Church and was a member of the Mens Club. He shared the gospel and Gods scripture with many fellow officers, citizens, and offenders. He loved the Lord and looked forward to what God had for him. His favorite past time was fishing and golf. He frequently invited family and friends for weekend trips to the coast. He coached both daughters golf and proudly enjoyed watching Nayshla win medals. Nayshla received a golf scholarship to St. Thomas University in Miami, Florida. Paul is loved by family and many friends. He always had a smile and a joke and always looked how to help others. He was a patient teacher. He will be missed. Our consolation is that he is with the Lord.
Paul is survived by his parents, his loving wife Jacquelin R. Zavala; daughters Isabella and Nayshla; brother, Antonio Zavala; sister-in-law Eva; nieces Olivia, Angelica, and Clarissa; and his sister, Leticia Zavala.
